Re: rebreather as a usual kit

All my diving is now on the Vision, except where prohibited by PADI standards and when I can't get someone else to do it: i.e. when teaching IDCs...

And I'd give that up too if I could, it is amazing how far it knocks you back just doing a couple of shallow dives on O/C!

Boats that don't allow Rebreather's, agencies that ban rebreathers....countries that requires ec markings in club
that's the reason why my best diving piece of equippement is...... my rubber inflatable boat and my yamaha 40 hp outboard !!! and I f....ck them all !!!
sorry to be rude !!!

I've dived for 28 years living 200m away the sea, and diving weekly but in every dive center I've ever been I met diving instructors trying to tell me what I should and should not do ...arhhhhh !

now I ban any OC diver on my boat ((((-:

and it is true !!!!

I tell them, what breathing air ? too dangerous, you should not do that I can't take the responsability to let you in my boat, it does not meet my standards (((-:

Re: rebreather as a usual kit

Not that I would want to preach to the converted, but a rebreather, OC setup, plastic bag, or long snorkel are just tools to do a job. We just happen to like these particular tools!

I don't actively teach at the moment, so I only do a few OC dives, when it's warranted. I choose to dive a CCR as I think it's a great tool for the vast majority of the dives I do: Wrecks, deep wrecks, critter photography (very much in the happy snappy mode) or peaceful solo dives with lots of redundancy.

Re: rebreather as a usual kit

I dive my DOCCR except when teaching. I can't teach in an unsanctioned unit. (TDI/SDI)

The solution is simple, I teach much less. What a selfish hog I am.

When I teach, I usually wear what my students wear. If I'm teaching OC Decompression Procedures, my students are wearing doubles and so do I. At least for the skills dives I feel it's important to be able to demonstrate exactly what I want them to do.
Same for me, beside skill dives I dive CC, also when I'm teaching.
