Different manufacturers of Sofnolime?

Help!
Are there different manufacturers of Sofnolime?
I am trying to import some to Peru and got the "importing people" working on finding me Sofnolime. Now for reference, I have not yet been trained on my CCR but I want to get the stuff into the country before I get the rebreather. A reabreather ainīt much good without scruber material.

The quote they sent me is for: SL812WV 8-12 mesh Sofnolime from O.C. Lugo. I thought Sofnolime was manufactured by Molecular.

Does this work?
Cheers
Nick

Sofnolime is manufactured by Molecular Products Ltd in the UK and distributed by O.C. Lugo in North America.
I don't know if there is a distributor in South America, or if you have a choice where to order.
Contact for Molecular Products is sales@molprod.com

Molecular Products actually makes it in their factories.
Lugo imports and distributes it in North America.
They carry all kind of chemical stuff and absorbents.
Don't know if you can buy direct, but I asume they
only distribute to dealers, importers etc.

Same with Sodasorb, it's made by Grace and the diving
grade is distributed by Steam Machines. That you can
buy direct or through their dealers, price is usually the
same.

I understand there are different grain size like 8-12 but are Sofnolime and sodasorb the same chemical ?

Does anyone know the chemical formula of the stuff pls?

They use pretty much the same chemicals, but in propriatory compostion.
Slight differences in hardness, absorbing capacity and such.
I enclosed the MSDS for both.

Re: Different manufacturers of Sofnolime?

Well, the obvious question you will get is "how can we have a superior product at less cost?"

I think everyone knows that MP is the seperior product, but how can we as the user get it at a better cost? In the US, there seem to be a bottle neck with O.C. Lugo. They only sell to sea pearls. The rest of us must deal with them. If I can order a pallet of product, why can't I get it from O.C. directly? Other manufacturers/distributors will sell directly in these quantities. Why won't O.C.? This step through two middle men makes the price of your product out of line.

FWIW

... as soon as what-his-name(*) introduces his revolutionary sorb product...

(*) the guy who just got out of school, worked at ISC and has a "simple" idea of how to make recycle-able sorb... posted a while back, IIRC.

Re: Different manufacturers of Sofnolime?

Hey Nick,

Grace/SodaSorb has a dealer in Brazil but he don't care about recreational market just offshore business. I asked him about prices and he never answer me but if you want we can share a pallet (24 buckets of 37 lbs/each) of 6-12 if worth for you.
You can go to Grace's official web site and there you will find the e-mail for Jeffrey at the Brazilian office.
Cheers,
