| Hi guys this is the set up I have now for my Dolphin , just wondering if its cool with the DIR/GUE style of diving in open water. Is there any other way to organise the bailout bottle/wing inflator? , I'm using a small 7lt steel as the OOA /Bailout and wanted also to know if and where I can get a smaller sized ali tank. Thanks Dave www.aquapix.com.au |

| Hi there, Luxfer make a 40cf Ali cylinder, 5.7 ltr approx. Would have thought you'd have a Luxfer dealer somewhere near(ish) you over there. HTH Phill |

| Johnny The Hatch Current Rebreather/s: | Hi Dave, the only way you will "be" DIR is if you do DIR fundamentials DIR TEC1 DIR TEC2 DIR RB80 Diver and get yourself an RB80 for approx USD7500 What you can do is try to follow the DIR or Hogarthian way of thinking. But you can never be DIR on a Dolphin. For me its not about DIR or NOT DIR, it about knowing your equipment and trying to configure them well and allways be open for better sollutions. You can never be perfect... /Jonny |

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Dave, I don't quite understand your question. Johnny's is probably as close as you can get: A dolphin is not DIR. As they use RBs solely as gas extenders, any dives you can make on your Dolphin would more like than not be done on OC, and for a dive a Rebreather is needed the Dolphin doesn't have the duration or savings needed. On the RB80 a second stage is build into the DSV, so when you close the loop you are on OC gas. Am not sure where that stage is plugged in, but for the real long dives the backgas (2 full size cylinders, 15 ltrs or more) is the OC bailout while loop gas is provided by smaller stages. At least at the EKPP dives. The lead divers also carry a second RB80 for bailout, in addition to the full size OC tanks.

| There are two approaches: number one, accept that most of them (DIR divers) will never actually get to the water never mind actually need a bail out. Number two: Why worry? They'll only whinge at you about how rebreathers will lead to your untimely death, world poverty, moral decline, proliferation of nuclear weapons, global warming, zionist domination and various other conspiracy theories that DIR divers put around about rebreathers without a. understanding them b. ever having used them or c. actually got in the water with any form of dive kit (very dangerous to leave the safety of their computer rooms). You dive a rebreather, forget humility and accept that you are now a higher life form. My approach to making my rig DIR compliant is "bollocks to them" When they start providing an offboard dil connection for me then I'll start providing bail out for them.Anyhow, everyone knows DIR divers eat the homeless and bugger stray dogs so they are best avoided ![]() Hot weather and 5litre wine boxes really do not mix... |
