Is it a DSV/OC or a BOV?

Ok, I have noticed that DSV/OC seems to be losing favor and as of late I see the term BOV used in it's place.

Couldn't in fact the regulator on the BC inflator as the bailout regulator be a BOV?

If so, then it seems like BOV is not particularly accurate when trying to describe an INTEGRAL 2nd stage regulator attached to one's DSV.

Thoughts?

Perhaps it should be an IBOV?

Yep, but its not dead easy, you need to practise it to get the technique down (inflating and breathing at the same time). Im not sure I'd want to rely on it on a 'hard' bailout (ie stressed and concentrating on keeping sphincter close).

I think iDiveChick means the AutoAir rather than an inflator, do pay attention

Hello Divechick, I only ever meant for the term to describe integral OC Rebreather mouthpieces like the KISS or Divematics etc. Bail Out Valves. Certainly easier than OC/CC DSV. Why DSV anyway? Why would someone want to dive at the surface with a valve? Isn't that a snorkel? I never understood that.

Yours
Confused of Plymouth.

Pchanning, oh, I know exactly what you meant, I am just provoking linquistic thought.

Seems we ought to have a standard.

The fact that people still dive with two systems for units, metric and imperial, would be evidance to the contrary.
