On both systems, if there isn't a problem I could manage the dive far deeper than that even with my brain full of nitrogen but I have to plan for problems and I don't carry a backup brain. As has been pointed out CC trimix is cheap.

| Re: Deep air on OC vs. CCR I use air dil to about 30m on CCR if I had to, I'd probably stop at 40m on OC air (my deepest was 90m on air in open water and 75m in caves, neither were pleasant). I don't tend to use air dil as I keep 18/40 banked and decant off that for most diving (with air top offs for shallower dives). I've never had an air dil past about 25m so I've no idea if the narcosis is similar to OC. It costs relatively nothing so I generally have some helium in my dil whatever the depth.

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Deep air on OC vs. CCR Air CC 30 m OC 40 m Once upon a time I didn`t notice anything at 50 m (dark, 4 degrees C). Then came along trimix. From that point on, I really started noticing the narcosis even at 30 m (OC). With CC, I usually use some helium were I would otherwise use air. Doesn`t change deco and you are that bit sharper. | Re: Deep air on OC vs. CCR Warm, clear, no-stress bimbles in the Red Sea were fine at 50-60m. Much deeper and it became obvious that this was Mix territory.

| Re: Deep air on OC vs. CCR I would like to ask this crowd (given the pn2 being equal) have any of you found the difference in thermal stress between OC and CC has a descernable effect on your perception of narcosis? Thanks
