![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Fwiw I went to CCR for the same reason ,bought a Vision & with lead it was about the same weight as twin 12's & a bp ,The difference came when I fitted it into a KT frame ( not the lightest on the market ) it made the bare unit weigh 1 kg more but I no longer needed any lead (minus 10 KG ).So now my unit weighs 9KG less than my twin 12's did ,I have also used quick mounts for the cylinders which means I can carry the unit less 2 x 3L and less my 2L argon bottle HTH

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Should I Go CCR? The classic KISS seems lighter than double 85's. I use 4 more pounds of lead with the CK compared with the 85's as a plate-weight so it's a head to head comparison (also a 6 lb wt belt in each case). The CK is a whole lot lighter than double E8-130's. |

If your ambition is to lighten the load on your knees...from someone who has failed back surgery, some 10 epidural steroid injections, and an upcoming adhesiolysis procedure, you will be disappointed .By the time you get your sling tanks and weights, your knees, back, whatever is going to take the load, there will be no significant difference. Your making an expensive and dangerous mistake! Should you go CCR? Are you passionate about diving? and like the idea of getting rid of the toilet flushing sound flooding your hearing space? do you enjoy fidgeting around with your gear for hours on end? do you wish to keep warmer and more hydrated? do you have the ambition of longer bottom times? less He consumption? greater operational flexibility? Can you accept greater complexity? and dancing with your potential death machine? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Should I Go CCR? How much does a twin set weight any how? A Inspo Classic CCR is 30KG 66lb gassed and ready to go Then I would sugest the average beginer on CCR will add 10Kg of lead (22lb) so i reckon the average newby CCR divier will be carrying 88lb at a rough gues. Like Colin i was able to remove significant lead going over to a Decoweeny Travel Frame. and later a Michel Hern Alibox With the Weeny frame i was down to 6Kg and the fraim weighed in a 2.5 I think With the Ali Frame i am still on 6 Kg and the frame weighs in at 5kg but its the way it trims out thats the problem not the actual weight. i need a 2kg top weight on it which i didnt on the Weeny frame. I might get the weight back down as i get used to it. ATB Mark Chase

![]() | Re: Should I Go CCR? For what its worth I suggest the final comments by Sabgia are taken in to consideration. (A green one for you). There are many units and configurations available and whilst it is not nice having issues with your knees the reason for diving a rebreather is because you want to. Safe diving, Gary |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Should I Go CCR? The answer is "depends". It depends upon the type of diving you do... And the type of diving you plan to do... Deep... cold.... long... less than 130 feet less than 60 feet less than 30 feet Your mechanical skills... Your willingness to do a lot more setup and breakdown And...sigh...your risk analysis Repost with these questions answered and the replies may change.... If you are having trouble getting back on the boat with that heavy crap...and thats all....make yourself a 10 to 15 foot line of at lest 3/4 inch diameter with a big snap hook on the end...tie one end to a cleat on the boat...throw in the snap hook and snap your gear on before getting back in the boat...get some help in pulling it out and leave a generous tip....it will be a lot cheaper than a rebreather... I've been there...diving in Walkers Cay...going down to the boat on crutches, having to roll into the boat, having the boat boy put my fins on, and getting lots of help getting out..lack of gravity in the water was a blessing....nice tips generate a lot of great help. ![]() Oh yeah, my 2 hour full ccr dive rig weighs less than 30 pounds....a real pleasure in long walks to the shoreline or climbing in the boat. http://www.atlimp.com/classicconvertible.pdf There are others available also.....first step...evaluate what you want to do...... Good luck Tom

The SK is a very small unit si of them all I reckon its the lightest, I reckon the Classic Kiss and Evo are next up then the heavy weights like the YBOD Meg and Finlay the super heavy weights like the Boris Put both RBs I'm trained on on a scale. .PRISM ready to dive weighted in at 47.2 lbs (about 21.5 kg) SK with SS case/bp and 3 ltr alu tanks at 61.4 lbs (about 28 kg)
