The fact that you are warmer with a base layer just proves that limiting heat loss by limiting convection and conduction is much more efficient than reflecting radiated heat back.

I'm happy with my Weezle Xtreme too even though it requires more loft as other already stated. used with TLS350, CF200, O3 2.5mm, Beuchat trilame, and didn't see any difference about the Weezle between these suits.
I got a patch of Tough duck (DUI overlay) stitched to the Weezle for the dump valve issue.works good.
