![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Two weeks of sidescanning and we found... A WW2 submarine. It wasnt the actual wreck the trip was mainly focused on searching for but it was one of the many new uncharted wrecks we found during the two week search in waters near Borneo. The sub was found in 70m of water upright and in amazing condition with little net. After spending time measuring her (knoted string) and reviewing our on-board research material (and land based research info via sat phone/email) we ended up identifying her easily by removing some marine growth off her name plate. The ID of the sub is being withheld until the survivors association and relivant navy have been informed and naturally, like previous WW2 subs we found earlier the site is given full respect. 2nd sub found this year for me! ![]() Also found on this trip was a couple of WW2 marus (one with steam engines still in its hold) some old freighters a landing craft full of huge trucks and a whole heap of reefs/rocks/crappy little wooden fishing boats or anthing else that bounces back a signal!! Although we didnt (again) find the ship we were looking for the sub was a good substitute - all in all a good trip Sidescan image of the sub as we found her
