The only point I would make is that I do not see sanity breaths as a solution to hypoxia, I believe that the only immediate reaction to low O2 is to do a diluent flush, this is taught by every agency I teach for whether IANTD, TDI, PSA or ITDA. Even with a neck-tied regulator the time it can take to close a DSV and secure the regulator can be too long, especially if the cylinder is closed and we have all found cylinders we believed to be opened that have closed! A diluent flush is almost instantaneous and can save a life, as stated in a previous thread, I have seen a diver go unconscious coming off the loop to secure a second stage to breathe from. Cheers, Dave Cooper.

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Article about OC Bail-out Very nice article Cedric! I like the approach that does not involve hanging on the compromised loop. In case of hypoxia I think the fastest and safest way is to go OC if you have a BOV. If not then dil flush. JH |

Just to remind people how important it is when diving with people who dont know how your 'bretaher works. A simple 'push here if I go unconscious (ADV)' could save a life, or 'this is my loop, not a useful hand-hold, it must stay in my mouth' (bit of personal experience there!) .Thanks for the article. Cheers, Dave Cooper. Just on that - i have a Nemo that I had on my Inspo (which I liked ). Now I've got a Meg - does anyone know if I can get adaptors or fit it? BTW, Sounds cheeky i know, but and chance of you coming up with a guide to diving with FFMs? Actually Dave, you should have your BOV for your Nova mask by now, what's it like? (I'm still awiating mine )Thanks again, Nick

Question: how many have their BOV connected to onboard gas versus offboard? Those of you diving with it connected to smaller tanks onboard, don't you worry about even a few breaths using up all of your diluent on deep dives? What's your take on this? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Article about OC Bail-out I have mine connected to my onboard cylinder, but must admit that I have been thinking about moving that set up to an offboard configuration (deep B/O + QC), mainly due to the reason you stated. Can anyone recommend a simple/robust and reliable QC for this purpose? Andre Fortin |
