Looking at those photos, very nice. Speaking technically of the pictures, some of them have very nice colour, composition and lighting. Is it difficult to take snaps like these?

| Re: Pics from Florida plus the SuperMeg Mike, I've heard some cavers, set up the camera on a tripod, open the shutter and shine a lights round the cave lighting up everywhere. That way you expose the whole cave.Looking at those photos, very nice. Speaking technically of the pictures, some of them have very nice colour, composition and lighting. Is it difficult to take snaps like these? Does this apply to UW cavers? |

Haven't tried dual strobes yet. Obviously you get the best results by setting up multiple slave strobes ahead of time, and positioning divers for lighting as well- I've heard it termed "painting with light".Does this apply to UW cavers? Obviously you get the best results by setting up multiple slave strobes ahead of time, and positioning divers for lighting as well- I've heard it termed "painting with light". The multiple strobes, multiple people, multiple/long exposures technique really produces stunning images. I once helped take pictures with over 300 individual flashes of light per exposure. There were 4 of us walking around a giant dry dome, big electronic strobes in hand, flashing at everything in sight, for twenty minutes. We did that several times, and the images came out absolutely spectacular: They do look like a painting, probably because people subconsciously or deliberately spent more time lighting features they found interesting.Heather One of the disadvantages of this technique is that you cannot use it with any of the digital cameras I know of. They can't handle exposures that long because they produce too much sensor-noise. Last edited by mstroeck : 17th November 2006 at 15:26. Reason: confusing language issues :-) |

Once upon a time I knew a guy who did stunning underwater images with similar techniques. I'm trying to dig up his name, as he used to have a website with images on it. If I can find it I'll put up a link. One of the disadvantages of this technique is that you cannot use it with any of the digital cameras I know of.
