Actually I'd say the opposite!

When you use two hands to lift the shape the insides of your fingers form is naturally a shallow curve, the curved handle allows you to apply maximum lift with two hands having full contact. A flat part would "probably" distribute more load to your 3rd and 4th (little) fingers on the outside...

I put a section of tube around my handle and some duct tape to hold it one, made it super comfy to lift... which was good as I had three tanks and integrated weight! Ouch (There is no emoticon for "bad back")

I hesitated to post because I suspected I didn't know what I was talking about.

Turns out I was right. Didn't think about needing TWO hands. I'm sorry you are diving something that heavy.

Just a thought?
Dave
hi dave it would be impossible with this design but you should have a word with Darlene on these boards as she has made one

Quote:
I had to enlarge (1 mm) the holes because they were not properly aligned with the bolt on my kiss backplate (#72) and my wing holes (Oxycheq 40).

The corner of the metal handle are quite sharp and i kept scratching my hands when i lifted the rebreather. I made them rounded with a grinder.
i have already changed the holes for the back plate they are now slots so there should'nt be any other problems, and im sorry if i missed some burrs on the handle i try not to let it happen again.

Quote:
Handle, bit rough on bare hands once the Ali starts to "bloom" also interferes with turning exhale red pod, perhaps a lower profile design? This might be alittle tricky as that area is very busy....

Stand piece can flexes slightly when given heavy load (obvious I know and maybe I was using it beyond the design limits! ) Dumpy 3ltr causes a little flex but enough for the removable section to "pop out" of where it meshes with the counterlung case so next time you put it down the stand flexs and slips inside of the case and weakens the structure.

"D-rings" on stand could do with sticking out abit further (being wider) as they are difficult to access with something large in the stand.
hi Ben i have now made the holding groove deeper to try and stop the seperation from the case and now with slots for the back plate you can pretension the base to the sport kiss CL case this stops the flex
with regards to the d-rings is this a problem for both sets of d-rings?

the handle was attuly made longer so it didnt clash with the T gas connector
so making the handle lower makes this a really big problem.
i desided at the time when we started work on the sport kiss stand that it was better to have the handle and have to lift the scrubber first defore turning the pod rather than turning the pod before lifting the scrubber.

Quote:
I had to drill a couple of extra holes in mine to get the wing, backplate and stand to match the counter lung case and I put a chamfer on the lower handle edges they caught the counterlung case and wouldn't allow the stand to sit flush.

was this a problem on the kiss meg or sport kiss stand?
and has any one else had this problem??????

Quote:
Great stand! I agree with softening up the hand hold a bit. Also it would be great if the bottom of the stand was a bit stiffer, perhaps a small gusset.
i could redesign the removable plate so it directly ties to the spine rather than just touching the bottom of the scrubber, this would make it stronger
but mean and extra bolt for the kiss users to undo before removing the scrubber and a little extra weight.

the first stand i made had a sraight handle made from round section ali bent in to shape then welded to the spine
because of the round section it was nicer to the touch but was far to exspencive to produce and it would clash with the o2 connector on the meg
.

what is it people are finding sharp about the handle? is it because it is made from 6 mm ali so has a small profile or are people finding it just wants the edges making rounder?

kind regards john routley

I think it is just the profile, there is nothing really "sharp" about mine, but with my delicate typists hands (especially if they have been in the water for a few hours) it feels like it really cuts in - with gloves on it is not a problem. I have a piece of tube I put over the handle if I am likely to be moving it a lot with cylinders mounted.

For me it is not a problem of "burrs" left on the stand, but a problem with the edges 90 degrees sharp.

I rounded the edges of the handle and now it is fine.

Re: This Is Your Chance To Make A Change!!

The elbow on my wing does not fit properly with the handle. It's an Oxycheq and bangs up against the handle.

It's been so long since I changed it, but on the lower part where you had the wing nuts, I removed them and tapped the aluminum to accept a nice, round headed, allen bolt. Not a line trap now.

I really enjoy the stand! I just wish I was smarter when removing the head from my Meg. I always tend to rack my fingers...probably just my stupidity!

Thanks for your great products!

Re: This Is Your Chance To Make A Change!!

How about designing the stand so that it replaces the spine in the Classic KISS, now that would be an elegant solution ...

Probably a little expensive though.

Didn't use the upper ones at all, had a "tail" tied to the lower ones with another d-ring on the end so it reached out past the tank inside the foot part of the stand to hang my stages off in a semi-side-mount stylee (I was inspired by the Golem Butt mount tank pad so used your d-rings for that purpose as close as I could)
