Huh ?

How do you get lower pressure on the inside of a tank ?

Vacuum on the inside, ambient on the outside.

I'm a bit confused as to why you consider £18 for J of O2 beyond the price for mere mortals (eh! I'm not immortal either) I bet your unit cost a few quid more than that. How much do you pay to top up your O2 on your unit? It wouldn't take long to recover £18. Unless its the £6.50 a month cylinder rental that's too much, it costs me that in fuel to get to and from my LDS.

p.s. Helium is £80 per J

You have to pull vacuum on the inside in the first place by connecting a lower pressure source on the outside.

Stuart, never mind. I lost track of what's going on now...

Re: Welding grade O2 (again)

Turn the J upside down and pat the bottom, works for me with ketchup.

Yup and it helps if you squeeze the J a bit...

As discussed elsewhere in this thread, I searched and searched and no one offered to haggle

Best I've been offered is £134+ quid for J full of O2 and £34.65 monthly rental, £40 delivery, £20 pickup!!!

That is beyond my budget, its 3x more expensive than the dive shop, despite the 30mile round trip :-)

The news about Lakeside diving is interesting though, I'd only been there once in the distance past and dismissed it as recreational PADI shop but it seems like they are under new management, hopefully management in touch with UK diving this time! :-)
