Re: On the verge of purchasing a Evolution

Or do what I did...
  • Get the Evo
  • Buy the longer bottom scrubber section of the Vision-Inspiration
  • Buy some 3L tanks
  • Make the frame
then you could dive any combination as you wish:
  • In the original Evo case with 2L (which I never did)
  • In the frame as Evo with 2L (which I also never did)
  • In the frame as Evo with 3L (which I usually do)
  • In the frame with long scrubber and 2L (which I never did)
  • In the frame with long scrubber and 3L (which I do on long week-end trips)
As Stuart mentioned, the size is very small with the frame and either sets of tanks. Once inside the frame, it doesn't matter if using the short or long scrubber since the frame takes the same external volume.

Not for me personally.

I dive mostly with the shorter scrubber (i.e. Evo) since I throw away less unused sorb when/if I do another deep dive with fresh sorb.

The longer scrubber is for doing a lot of shallow dives over the course of the week-end, and put a lot of hours on without changing the sorb.

And the Insp doesn't fit me as well if I ever use it in stock housing.

That's an interesting comment by Decoweenie. I have an Evo and travel a lot with it so weight is important to me. I have not seen a Inspo Vision yet, so naturally assumed that the scrubber unit was larger all round, i.e. both in depth and diameter. Has anybody tried to shoe horn the Inspo Vision scrubber into the Evo case, thereby getting a smaller lighter unit with the added benefit of an extended scubber.

Sorry if you think I have hijacked the thread, but it's sort of relevant.

Re: On the verge of purchasing a Evolution

The Vision-Insp bottom scrubber part is just a bit longer, same diameter since it takes the same exact lid.

It won't fit inside the Evo case.

Re: On the verge of purchasing a Evolution

Thanks for Everyone's input. I am planning to change the box to a travel frame and was looking at Kent Tooling but I understand it is a 140 bucks for shipping. Any other recommendations for a good around boat/travel frame. Looking for something with a little negative buoyancy. If possible please provide weblinks.

I like the ability to go as light and small as possible and the ability to go bigger as possible. This will not be the last Rebreather I purchase but I feel it is a good starting point
