Entry documents for sending HH back to USA

Can any one help

I am sending two Hammerheads back on Fedex but they have asked me to fill out a form.

It askes if the items have previously claimed US drawback? Yes or No?

It asks were they imported under TSUSA 864.05 Yes or No

I have no idea what they are talking about

Any one know what i should put?

ATB

Re: Entry documents for sending HH back to USA

You should enter No for both questions assuming you originally had the good sent from USA to UK.

It is most important that you indicate on the forms the following info so that they are not held up at customs and no import taxes are required.

No Commercial or Retail Value
Goods of US Origin
Warranty return to USA

Mark

We had a huge problem getting back a Meg's head sent to the US for repair. Despite all the sayings in the box ans dispatch documents, stating it was a repair within warraty. It took us a lot of time and money to solve it.

My advice is: go to a UK customs office and ask what you should do. In here (Portugal) they have a form that you fill and they stamp, stating that the product is going to the US for repair (you can add "within warranty" so they don't charge you VAT over the repair price, if any). Send a copy of that customs form to Fedex, mainly don´t blindly trust Fedex. They were the main responsibles for our problem

Cheers

Sue

Thanks every one.

I have been told that because i have insured them for £5000 I will have to pay £875 vat on their return to the UK I then have to claim this back what a waste of time and paper.

One month ago had HH sent from UK to USA using DHL. No customs problems upon entry into the USA and on time delivery. I have had customs problem before when moving goods between USA and Canada with Fedex.

I agree you should be concerned about any potential import taxes when they are sent back into the UK. Jurgenson Marine should be aware of how to properly complete the commercial invoice and shipping documents when they ship the HH back to you after repair. I think in a previous post you mentioned that the repairs were at no charge and if such on the documents.

If you can get some kind of document from the UK customs as suggested that would be an added measure of safety if things go wrong.

I think they are using the insured value as the commercial invoice value when they make this statement. I am not an expert on import rules for the UK but in most other cases the duties are based upon the commerical invoice value indicated by the shipper. In this case that will be when they are shipped back to you. If Jergenson Marine indicates that the commercial value is $0 and indicates that the goods are being sent back following warantee repairs then import duties are generally not charged.

You might want to confirm this with Jergenson Marine and also check with another shipping company.

Re: Entry documents for sending HH back to USA

JM will normally put 50$ as commercial value for repairs. That is below the VAT & import threshold.
