There might be a bit of latency as you breathed down the contents of the hose, if a 2M hose is a lung full......You could just go surface supplied, mixed optimum gasses on the fly with a scavenger unit, making it just like a rebreather!! ![]() |

Yeah, but I think that if you have a scavenger system, then it's no longer a demand system, and the gas is probably constantly circulated down to the diver and back up to the scavenger/blending/mixing system?![]() |

Perhaps you would care to explain with the diver at 100M below the surface how you see the pipe work being laid out so that latency becomes a non issue, as I think that you need some quantity of pipe filled with IP (approx) gas... Or perhaps you are employing a new version of tardis to transport the gas back to the surface get it scrub(ed), re-blended and then re tardis(ed) back down to the diver? Of course I could just be pissed. ![]() |

Either that or pump the water into the cylinders and just walk in ... ![]()

The check in girl at Eastjet said the rig goes hold!! But the unbilical pokes through that bagage thingy a treat!! lolYou could just go surface supplied, mixed optimum gasses on the fly with a scavenger unit, making it just like a rebreather!! |

| So much more to learn ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Proof that i do listen to Dr Mike LOL, I thought the same thing. Then, of course, I realized that a kink, or slice in the hose along it's length would make for a very bad bailout. And, of course, you'd have to run multiple hoses for the different depths. But hey, the thought of a reel full of hose being rolled out for 3/4 of a mile is pretty funny. That is exactly what commercial divers do!With gas reclaim on the surface, and the diver a long way underneath, it is also the world's largest rebreathers: about half a mile in length. Heaviest as well, by a good margin. A ship is needed to carry the scrubbers and provide open circuit bailout gas. Longest possible is over 750m. I need to speak to a nice gentleman (John), who has some great pictures of the umbilicals which he uses when he presents the very big rebreather and see if one can be posted here. You need the right IP at the end, so you measure the pressure on the diver, then pump up the hose on the surface. These are not twinky SCUBA hose with 30 bar IP limits, but they can take hundreds of bar. Alex Last edited by AD_ward9 : 27th September 2006 at 17:18. |
