Talking Scr

Calling all SCR divers...is there anyone left? Or has everyone converted to CCR? Once i get this new Shearwater computer...i'll be where i need to be for a while. getting stuff here in the islands is kinda tricky.
Love to hear from any dolphin divers (SRC-CCR), any azimut divers, any homebrewers too....

Re: Scr

Using SCR, no plans to change.

If I DID change, it would probably be a Kiss? (Getting approval for this from SWMBO would be difficult unless we win the lottery)

I know I could convert the Dolph into mccr, but I dont think I would. I dive within the BSAC framework, and I dont think an mccr Dolphin really "fits" the BSAC way

Re: Scr

Just took delivery of my Dolphin and can't wait for training . I will stay SCR for a while as to begin saving a CCR in the future. I can't wait to shed the steel 120's and go "semi - bubble free". Let me know if you have any recommendations or training suggestions...

Re: Scr

SCR is very enjoyable, all pro's and con's aside - you will never look back!
Some people never chasnge from SCR and whats wrong with that?

I started off using a Dolphin SCR many moons ago, converted it and went to ECCR.

Some documentation you might find extremely usefull is here -> SAA875 - Sub Aqua Sports

I used a EDO04 for cave diving up to 100 m,for 2 years ( without any O2 sensor ) then turn it into mCCR and use a BOB....

I sometime regret the time of easy diving just having to listen at few bubbles to know that everything is OK.

Some friends dive EDO4 and one done a fantastic SCR dive in DIR config someday when I was staying near the sump because of a problem on my O2 reg and sensor prob etc...

Just have to put the internal valve again to go back, but saying that and after playing with that idea I know that I'll not do that...but Im happy to continue to play with these idea

This was just a blue-sky idea I was dreaming when I was converting the EDO-04 (SCR) to XCR (mCCR) a few years back...

I wanted to be able to switch between the SCR and CCR modes easily and almost instantaneously at will. And as you said, the only thing needed to be changed was the mushroom valve for the small bellows. And I started dreaming about a mechanical lever like the red-filter inside video housing that could slide the mushroom into and out of position...

You all could start laughing now...

Amusing: I know that Arno thought about that but it was too difficult.
I thought about a middle way witch is to be able to simply eject the inside valve.
So for exemple you can do the deepest part or your dive without any control ( thats a "real" dream ) then on the deco way you eject the inside valve because you have time enough to play with O2 and sensors to have the best deco ( or as an emergency solution in case of deco gas lost ) but ... thats just a dream.

On an other hand a active SCR ( I mean like a dolphin ) is an easiest way to be turned into CCR mode.
Do you know that? http://home.worldcom.ch/intruder/

Its the SMG ( self mixed gas ) system witch is supposed to be abble to be changed underwater between SCR, CCR and SMG mode
Not my actual way but could be interesting

Cheers
