Re: Help Needed for cylinder valve standards

Take a look here: W+S Water Safety Europe GmbH - O2 Ventil Standards weltweit

It has photos and specs of all the O2 valves you are likely to come across in each conuntry.

Re: Help Needed for cylinder valve standards

Pipped to the post. Nice find george.

It looks like reality varies a lot from these standards though, in some places.

Good suggestion! But the problem in my case is that the cylinders are in Vanuatu -- several thousand miles away from me. I have some digital photos, but the wax cast would have to wait until I get there -- which will be too late.

But thanks to all the helpful feedback from this forum and elsewhere, and from my colleagues in Vanuatu, I think I've got it just about sorted out.

Again, my thanks to everyone for their helpful input!

Aloha,
Rich

P.S. When I get all of this stuff sorted out once and for all, I'll summarize it on a web page and let everyone know.

Re: Help Needed for cylinder valve standards

Hey, you never mentioned it was in Vanuatu!!!

Talk to Barry Holland at Aquamarine, runs a tech oriented dive shop on Santo, the Coolidge is on his doorstep, or any these forums, Jason Blackwell runs trips there about 5 times a year, does all his CCR and trimix courses over there, or Richard "Harry" Harris spent 2 years in Port Vila working in the hospital and running the Hyperbaric unit, doing lots of deep trimix dives on his classic Kiss.

I'm sure any of these three can help you out no problems.

Good luck

Re: Help Needed for cylinder valve standards

Vanuatu have been under french (and english) juridiction, so it's very possible you found some french standards.
Here description of some of them:
