![]() | EA Cartridges and Travel to Faraway Lands Hey Everyone, We are setting off to the Philippines in November and want to take the Optimas for a couple of weeks of wreck diving. We are trying to decide how to do the shipping of the cartridges though. When you guys travel to disparate locations, do you ship them ahead of time or take them or ??? We found a Dive Rite dealer in Manila if I can get through on the phone so maybe he can get them in but I am wondering about how reliable shipping them ahead would be. Oh, and before people branch off on 'This is why we don't use cartridges', we all have this problem be it EACs or Sofno. Thanks for any help, Bill |

I do pack an MSDS sheet AND the more important letter from Molecular saying that the hazardous designation is only for USE not for transportation. Make sure you have paperwork on the extendaire things, although I think the factory sealing and pritned photo on the cannister will negate that. We have used CTS in the past to ship Inspiration cylinders, but they can take double what they promise. make sure you send stuff 60 days in advance. Next to last trip the cylinders arrived 4 days after the group did. |

Thanks for any help, Bill Not me, I've never had this problem with sorb. I carry on the unit sans cyls and with a 70lb limit and 2 bags, I can bring 1 cyl and 1 keg of sorb in each bag+ clothes and gear. That's well over 100 hrs of dive time on a Prism radial in warm water. I did a months worth of diving in Papua New Guinea this way. I have never had a problem bringing sorb to even the most remote places in over a dozen trips. When they make a foldable radial extendair, that will give me the same duration as my Prism radial, I'll be at the front of the line. In my experience, anything you need for a dive trip, you bring it yourself. -Andy |

| Bloody Rebreathers! Current Rebreather/s: | Re: EA Cartridges and Travel to Faraway Lands Bill, have you spoken to Tom @ Micropore? or to Lamar? Dive Rite here in Australia should have stock in quantity in the near future. I assume the DR in Japan or Singapore will be the same. We have shipped to Vanuatu, and are organising Solomons as we speak. And as you said, it is no different to shipping granular. Cheers Jason
