The two vessels, which took over seven hours to sink, will now serve as an artificial reef for divers. The operation started at 0600CEST with the use of air-filled buoyancy tanks, which ensured that the two ships settled at 35 metres below the sea. Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi and Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono watched the operation, together with a large crowd of spectators on both land and sea. Dr. Gonzi described the event as another link in the chain of events to boost tourism in both Malta and Gozo. http://www.di-ve.com/dive/portal/portal.jhtml?id=244291 Hope to have some pics soon

![]() ![]() | Re: Vessels scuttled off Gozo (Malta) Great news. I was in Gozo a couple of years back and was driven around the island by a guy with a stretched white Mercedes. It's probably the only vehicle of its type on the island. Have you seen it around? Great diving; I'll be sure to dive on these wrecks on my next visit! |
