| Submerge Productions Current Rebreather/s: | Re: bizarre breathing problem Of course, I am still referring to the DT BMCL, and not the general BMCL system like CK, etc. They are totally different things (i.e. placement, confinement, etc). It is not my design, and I am responsible for you having one in the first place (thru Steven). So I want to make sure that all information posted are correct that only you have a problem with it, and a lot more people than just 2 diving the DT BMCL. So Dave T could still market it later if he wants to, it is his design. I am sorry that it didn't work out for you. I haven't given up completely. |

| Submerge Productions Current Rebreather/s: | Re: bizarre breathing problem Update. I still had this weird breathing problem from time to time with my OTS lungs and it really got on my nerves. I have been diving for the last year with a "big eye" mask. A week ago I switched back to my old, low volume Mares mask. I've done three dives since and so far no breathing problems what so ever. Time will tell but I'm hopefull that the problem is finaly solved. BTW - Mike, can you send me the lungs back? ![]() |

![]() | Re: bizarre breathing problem Hi Ive had these breathing problems aswell. I dive with a Dolphin. It mainly happens when Im head down, and the first time it happened I had a bit of a panic because I couldnt breathe, so bailed out, calmed down and went back on the loop and was ok. It happened again (on the same trip) this time going down a shot line to 30m. As on OC I was going head first and again couldnt breathe, and the penny dropped, I wondered if it was due to the pressure difference causing me have to litterally suck the gas out of the lung. Its not a nice feeling. I also get the problem at the back of the mouth and nose, it feels like Im bunged up with a cold. I had a particularly uncomfortable dive when i might as well have been on OC! Im still a novice on my SCR and the breathing is the only bit thats taken alot of getting used to. People always mention about the difference with buoyancy when moving onto a rebreather but no one ever mentions the breathing. All good fun ![]() sharon |

Dave Thats interesting, when you say not in the right place, I initially had the problem but resolved it my tightening my mask staps a bit. Cheers Rich

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: bizarre breathing problem Rich I used to get a bit of negative lung loading on my kiss, it would only happen if I did a head down descent. I minimised it by moving the kiss higher on my back to get the top of the CL as close to my mouth as poss and changed my descent angle. Evidently some humans are very sensitive to this negative pressure on the lungs and some of us not so. Tightening your mask strap "shouldnt" make any difference but.........what works is what works right!! Dave |

Peter when you experienced your problems did you have the BMCL side gussets open or closed? Dave The side gussets where closed (minimal loop volume). But I also had the problem with OTS lungs. Switching to a low volume mask seems to have cured it. I'm probably very sensitive to it. Two other things that could be related: 1. I can equalize without using my hands, even at the surface. Most divers I know cannot do this. Nice for filming. I can keep my hands on my camera. 2. I have major problems swimming without mask. It is almost impossible for me without closing my nose with my fingers. I ALWAYS dive with a spare mask. Peter |
