![]() ![]() ![]() | Although I have been diving rebreathers for a number of years, I have just registered to the Rebreather World forum. For those who already know me ... "Hi ". :-) I originally dived an INSPIRATION rebreather but moved across to the Classic KISS for the perceived simplicity, redundancy and facility for user-maintenance. The Classic wasn't as light as I would have liked and so I eventually moved across to the Sport KISS, my current unit. The downside to the KISS approach is the need for constant vigilance and checking of the three oxygen displays. As an enhancement to safety and ease of use I wanted to explore the possibility of having an HUD fitted. After checking out a number of possibilities, Hammerhead, Dive-Drive, Shearwater etc, I eventually chose the Guardian HUD as providing the functionality I wanted without compromising the simplicity of the KISS. After discussing the options with Uri Baran, I decided on the 100 meter option using Lumberg rather than the more expensive Fischer collectors giving a 160 meter option. I don't plan to be diving the Sport KISS below 100 m! However I did opt for a Fischer connector where the HUD connects to the oxygen sensor pod, because of the smaller size. There are some pictures posted of the HUD fitted to my unit at the following scratch website http://pcwww.liv.ac.uk/~ec96/Sport%2...0HUD/index.htm I think that the HUD fitted very neatly to the Sports KISS with minimum modification. Having the oxygen pod extension piece made up allowed the sensor wires access to the oxygen cells without modifying original components in any way. I tried the HUD out the first time last weekend and it was a pleasure to use. Anyone who wants to discuss this further then please post here or send me a private e-mail. Further information about the Guardian HUD can be obtained at the following website: http://www.underwaterexperiences.com/ It can be fitted to any rebreather. Regards, Steve Millard (Steve-M), ec96@liv.ac.uk . |
