![]() ![]() | Wich Rebreather??? Hi Rebreather World. If you were to choose a rebreather regardless of the prize, wich one would it be? Some details are mandatory: ppo2 readout at surface (realtime) deco readout at surface (realtime) FFM BOV Quick connection system for an umbilical for surface supplied support. Robust (different users) CE and EN markings preferable. If you decide to comment this thread, please be so kind to write down a couple of keywords why choosing one unit over the other. With regards Allan. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Wich Rebreather??? I think that there is no such unit in the market. There migth be some military units that come close to that but others I doubt. You seem to be looking a unit for commercial diving? JH |

![]() ![]() | i migth have expressed myself wrongly at first, what im looking for is a rebreather that will fit some the terms ive set up. personally ive narrowed it down to MEG,VISION or OROUBOROUS. wich unit would you prefer if the unit was bound to be tested for military use? The unit does not need any Mine Counter measures... Regards Allan |

I think the lack of answers probably stems from the lack of understanding your question, sorry. just my 2p's worth, BEN |

IMHO, those are the top 3 units currently available anyway. So still don't understand exactly what you are looking for...

![]() ![]() | Re: Wich Rebreather??? Looking for a rebreather wich in your eyes will be the best of the 3. of course some of them needs a bit of altering but that part will be for my own info. As i see it. Vision: actually the one i like best, but problems with software, surfacetime, etc, etc. Dosent prevail the best confidence in a rebreather. Meg: Nice robust unit , but im missing some stuff as "co2 meter" deco algo. choice of gas bail out. Boris: tried the unit once, presently the unit has some of the features im looking for, but i really dont like the VR3, in my opinion the lousiest usersystem ever made, the 2 buttons really sucks... the rebreather is intended to be used as a primary system from a open diving bell, the typical dives could be search of lost items or pax in depths 50 meters + the system should be seen as an alternative to OC Heliox diving.. Personally, I have not seen any of the problems noted, except for the hot spot which I saw for the first time last Friday since I got the unit late 2005. I believe APD got that issue solved so I will get it changed out under warranty.Vision: actually the one i like best, but problems with software, surfacetime, etc, etc. Dosent prevail the best confidence in a rebreather. Besides, IMHO, those are "cosmetics" issues anyway. The important issues like set-point works perfectly, the deco is very close to the tables AFAI have seen, etc. At least, I trust it. I could honestly say that the Vision is the best controller that I have used, and the most reliable. But YMMV as my unit is heavily modified to make it more robust and compact. Quote: Meg: Nice robust unit , but im missing some stuff as "co2 meter" deco algo. choice of gas bail out. Some are saying that the Meg doesn't keep set-point well. I don't know if that differs between users since the controller allows for different settings. Some don't like having to make up their own batteries, I used to have to do the same with the MK-15 but it is very nice to just pick one up when doing grocery. Some don't like the corrosion, the frontal clutter (same issue for most OTSCL system though). Quote: Boris: tried the unit once, presently the unit has some of the features im looking for, but i really dont like the VR3, in my opinion the lousiest usersystem ever made, the 2 buttons really sucks... Plus it is still an unit-in-development IMHO. I have a couple of friends who have sent their units back 4-5 times since they bought it (less than 1 year ?) for repairs/upgrades.At the end of the day, there is no perfect unit. And there will never be a perfect anything. The best you will get is the best compromise Rebreather design balancing everything most effectively.
