VR3, Uwatec bottom timer, and Vplan tables laminated in the pocket.
I took it forgranted that if one is using tables, one needs a bottom timer/depth gauge + watch

SO you should have voted (sorry not to have made it clear! ) 1 computer + tabels

Also have a Vytec with bottom gas - 21-32%, 50% and 80% set.

Then a old Suunto solution air computer.

Tables laminated and written on slate.
Beanie, Have I understand well, do you have a VR3 with forth cell, with 20% conservation ? But if you use the 4th cell the set point of 1.25 is ignored, right ?

No I have PPO2 deco disabled so it is currently just monitoring the PPO2 but not calculating deco from it.

It does depend which version of software you have, on mine you can turn the PPO2 on and Deco seperatly
xPPO and xDeco (I think)

Look for john's (Mdemon) Thread on it the different versions are there.

I have 3.xx btw

Re: 2 computers, or ?

Interesting poll, thanks Pierre!

Inspiration Classic:
  • VR3 (no 4th cell), Oceanic Versa Pro (in gauge mode), Uwatec bottom timer, 2 sets of backup tables. Used on all deco dives.
  • VR3 and Oceanic Versa Pro (in gauge mode) used on all non-deco dives.

Same same, but cut custom tables for each dive and leave them in Halcyon notebook (err, I do take the notebook with me by the way!)

Also followed Dr Mike's advice and wear as much Halcyon kit as possible - not becasue it's any good but it's great for winding up the GUE/DIR lot!

But thats not DOTF as in Ratio Deco is it? Isn't more Deco Made Up From Previous Experience (DMUFPE) + a bit more at 6 for good measure

DMUFPE just isn't as catchy is it!

To answer the original question, I use my VR3 set to 1.2, and maintain my KISS above 1.2 and carry tables cut with GAP as my backup. I did toy with the idea of 2 VR3's whilst I was OC trimix but never decided that it was worth it, tables just work!

In due course I expect I'll get the Shearwater and integrate it into my KISS loop and carry my VR3 and tables for that really bad day.

Cheers

Rich

Re: 2 computers, or ?

1) Vision /Trimix with 15/85GF
2) VR3 (not connected) @ 0.05 below nominal set point, 20% Cons
3) V-Planner Tables (Cons +3) for on loop and bail out ascents. Considering switching these to Zero Cons for bailout.

My current thinking is to switch VR3 to zero cons if I had to bail out and was a bit marginal on gas. Not absolutely sure how it will react if I do this...anyone know if it will recalculate deco penalty or just change the effect of the ongoing deco?

Actualy I do use the GUE DOTF as a kind of base line. I have run a few profiles using GUE DOTF and its close enough for jaz but as you say I'd pad it out a bit.

Ist stop 75% max depth, 3m/min ascent to 21m then a ratio of 1:1 on a 45m base line with 5mins added for every 3m over base and 50% of the stop tine at6m and 50% distributed between 21 and 9m.

It kind of works OK, 55m- 70m I go for the 1:2 ratio and add 25% of the 21-9m stop time to the stops from 75% max depth and 21m

If you do the math it works out prety good and you just have to pad a bit more as you get closer to its limits.

so 30min at 70m 1:2 ratio = first stop at 52m and deco from 21m up of 60mins. Deco between 52m and 21m = 15mins and the 6m stop will be 30mins.

My rough DOTF
