Angry Cell died in one months age!

Yesterday I was prepping the unit. After changing the battery I wanted to reset the timer. When I switched the handset on it displayed "Cell 3 missing, failure, replace, no dive"

I had taken that cell to use in June and it had worked OK the previous day for two dives. I took the cell out and measured the output - flat 0!

Luckily I had a new cell for the breather, unfortunately it seems to be from the same batch. Lets see how long it will last...

What have you done with the broken cells? I would like to get it replaced by AP.

The cell is APs original YBOD cell.

Re: Cell died in one months age!

I heard that there has also being two new Inspiration Vision Rebreather's in Finland that had in total of three failuring cells. At least one of them was giving lower ouput than what it was suppose to give.

Re: Cell died in one months age!

I would reach out to AP directly since you have stated that they were the provider of the cell. If appropreate I would expect them to replace it.

Send an email to AP. They want the cell back for testing and they will send me a new one. Nice service!

Re: Cell died in one months age!

Hi,
Since March, i have bought 5 new cells, 4 teledyne R22 and one AI.
All 4 teledyne have failed on me since then, the AI is doing well so far.
The last of the teledynes failed on me yesterday during a dive. Predive was perfect, got a 10.8 in ambient air and around 50 in O2(cant remember right now), at 40 meters S2 showed 2.9x (x variable), flushed the unit to see which sensors was ok, S1&S2 perfect, on the spot. Aborted the dive, as i was on 3 meters i saw S2 on -0.3x, i thought that was odd and by the time i surfaces it was showing 0.00. Well back at the diveshop i took the meg apart, let is stay for a while and then i turned on the displays to see the mv in ambient air, again spot on at 10.8, together with S1=10.9 and S3=10.6.
Very strange... I have talked to Teledyne and they said that they would send me replacement sensors for the first 3 ones i have changed.

Any ideas?
/Jonny

Re: Cell died in one months age!

I think Mark Chase has a few words to say about new Inspo cells failing...

Dodgy batch maybe?
