| Proper Boffin ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Just read a comment from someone about how they store their spare mask in what they define as their "emergency" pocket with their yellow DSMB. Got me (sadly) thinking about pocket classification. I have 2 pockets on my suit, and classify the right hand one for "seeing" things (spare mask and backup torches), and the left one for other things (yellow dsmb, spare red DSMB, spool etc) Does anyone else organise their pockets in a similarly anal way! |

Got me (sadly) thinking about pocket classification. Sadly I do exactly the same as you. "Seeing" in the left and "doing" in the right. Left is a velcro pocket with mask and torch in (and PLB nestling in the bottom out of the way) right is a zipped pocket with spare blob and spool and DSMBCi main blob.I have 2 pockets on my suit, and classify the right hand one for "seeing" things (spare mask and backup torches), and the left one for other things (yellow dsmb, spare red DSMB, spool etc) Does anyone else organise their pockets in a similarly anal way! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Pocket "allocation" I organize my pockets slightly different... One is for emergency situation, or less-frequently used. The other is for almost-every-dive use, or frequently used. The less-frequently used pocket contains items that I don't normally use unless emergency situations (or rare instances): spare mask, yellow DSMB with spool attached, shear, anchor waster line, folded mesh bag, etc... The almost-every-dive pocket contains items that I would use just about on every dive: red DSMB with inflation bottle, Wet-Notes, etc... Less-frequently used pocket is on left since my stages are on left. Almost-every-dive pocket is on right since it is more accessible. Both pockets have bungie loop attached so everything could be clipped off, and pulled out off pocket without falling into the abyss.

| Moderator ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Pocket "allocation" I organize by priority and frequency of use. I put things I will likely need so that I can get to them fastest: they are placed on top and on my forward bungee in the pocket. I put things I will use less often or those that it won't matter as much if it takes a bit longer to access below and/or on the rear bungee. Left pocket (bottom--lowest priority--to top): Emergency signal flare, two packets of water. On top of this and on the rear bungee: emergency reflector mirror, extra pee valve bolt, double ender, Dive Alert signal horn. On the forward bungee: two spools. Right pocket: On bottom, emergency laser signal light canister, two water packets on top. On rear bungee, PPO2 tables, emergency slate to clip to lift bag with message, Wetnotes. On forward bungee: backup mask. I carry one SMB rolled and butt mounted, and I carry a lift bag in my back plate storage pack. I prefer not to put lift bags in pockets because they are bulky and can delay the access to other things I might really need. Inside my CCR case, I even carry a life raft. I have been carrying an EPIRB and two protein bars) in a canister in front of my canister light on my waist harness webbing. However, I am considering relocating that. I still haven't come up with the best idea for that. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Pocket "allocation" I go with my left pocket as my SOS pocket pretty much. There's a yellow bag, backup mask and backup dive timer in there. My right pocket just has my self-inflating SMB. It's a bulky bugger, and takes up pretty much the whole pocket, but then it comes out most dives so it's not great to have a load of stuff dangling out of my pocket every time I use it. I keep my shears out on my harness, one set each side. Seems to work ok for now, and others can see/use them if required. Reels are on my hips under stages, one each side. I used to have one in my pocket but I think I'll get a spool and stick it in the backup pocket at some point. I used to have on my suit a velcro pocket one side, and zip the other. The velcro was for the emergency stuff so I could just reach down, pull up and grab just about anything (all secured in there anyway) without the need to find the zipper, new suit I didn't get the option as the pockets were already on there, but if I had the choice I'd do it the same way again I think, maybe velcro on both. I can feel a poll coming on... Digs. |
