It looks like the same Scubapro-Frameless masks I bought in quantities from Singapore. They are practically identical, except for no SP logo.

And that's a great price compare to (my local price of) US$100+ for the Scubapro Frameless, and about 1/2 for the copies.

Re: Spare Masks

Not a complaint or criticism but I have seen two frameless masks break (glass shatter) in the last couple of years. While extremely low volume and easy to pack they had no support and tend to shatter easily.
I have a Cressi free diving mask that has a silicone skirt and is very low volume with a hard plastic frame, had it for ages. My framless mask strap broke during a training dive. No problem pull out the back up and get on with it.

Like I said this is not a criticism just something I have seen.

Regards, Andrew

Re: Spare Masks

Mine's in a large pocket on my harness waist band, so it's always there whatever typw of suit I'm wearing.
Can't remeber where I read it but the contents of my pocket are each clipped onto a lanyard which in turn is clipped onto the DPV ring of my harness. This way every thing in my pocket is secured to me and I can't loose items when pulling out another or not closing my pocket properly!

I understand, but I also been using the same frameless mask for 6-7 years (easily 700-900 dives ?) without problem until the skirt got torn.

Have tried tons of other masks from time to time, but also go back to frameless mask myself. Excellent vision...

Re: Spare Masks

I totally agree that this depends on the quality build of the mask.

With the exception of going to a prescription mask (for better depth perception) - I lived in my frameless mask and never had a complaint. Field of vision was insane.

Re: Spare Masks

Always carry one in the left pocket of my Otter Brittanic drysuit.

It's my disaster pocket as it also contains my yellow "emergency" DSMB!

I spit in the spare mask at the same time I do my main mask.

Never had a lost or broken mask in 850+ dives.

Always a 1st time however.

I've got a couple of them but funily enough they don't look sexy on me - wonder why?

My spare is the even smaller version of the same mask which is really tiny.

Re: Spare Masks

This looks the same as the one that I use. Never had my spare mask break in the pocket on my waistband. I started carrying it perhaps 750 dives ago and it has been on every dive since without exception.

I am careful when packing kit though and always take it out of the Diverite pocket and place it (and my main mask) in the foot pockets of my fins for transportation, as I'm sure that that is where most damage is likely to occur.
