Re: new oceanic rebreather

So Chris,
as an avid Oceanic supporter and knowing of Mr H's without limits, philosophy and dedication to cutting edge equipment and technology, I would be interested in some details about XXXIX rebreather training program and or process in which distribution of said rebreather will be implemented. Will it be agency specific training? Is there a plan for this to be distributed thru the normal Dealers of Oceanic ? Pm if you prefer.

Re: new oceanic rebreather

Oceanic has a tease in the rebreather forum on Scuba Board to look for a major product release as DEMA gets closer.

Maybe just a tease and nothing more, no idea.

Not a tease at all but those answers at DEMA.

Best,

Chris

I posted that, yes a tease(we do extensive posting on Scubaboard, great way to hear what the end users are saying) but a true tease.

Re: new oceanic rebreather

I always thought the closed circuit version of the Phibian was a really awesome looking rig. I saw it's prototype UT-240 that was stolen from Ed Betts on E-bay and alerted Ed.

The Phibian seemed very compact and streamlined, and I liked the integrated 02 controller with the deco computer using Oceanic's always intuitive graphical interface.

That would have been the first rebreather I would have bought had it come to market fruition.

I have no doubt when it comes to computers and graphical interfaces Oceanic knows what they are doing.

I know they have their mask with integrated HUD, if they can come up with a means of integrating that to a CCR, where those of us who need guage readers aren't left in the dust, and have something with a back counterlung that has decent WOB and is streamlined.....and have all the HUD and wrist set wireless, as the Brits say, that would be the dogs bollocks.

Re: new oceanic rebreather

That sounded great till you used the word "wireless" if they go down that route they'd alienate alot of customers who wouldn't trust it, espeacially ex-Aladin Air X owners

Lets wait and see....

Re: new oceanic rebreather

Well, I had a Cochran Commander wireless and it never gave me issues..but that is a Cochran.

It would be really nice if I didn't have that dangly hose coming off my electronics head running all the way down my shoulder......

One things I wish the Vision wristset had was a form like the wristset on the OpenRev....it mounts more on the inner edge of your wrist..The Vision ends up on top of my arm and I have to rotate it too much and it slides around my arm as my wrist is not fat.

Dave

Just a small correction, the UT-240 was never a prototype for the Phibian but as the British company I work in had a minor involvement in both projects.
I guess that makes me the “right bollock” !! Iain
