![]() | Well after a few years 5+ on an Inspiration Classic, which was all origional apart from a 4th Cell and an extra hose from O2 to Auto air. I have finally got myself a new Inspo with everything on including double buttons ( 2 dil, 2o2 ). Latest version electronics, large wing, scrubber monitor, ADV and HUD. Its like going from a Spitfire to the Space Shutle. Will be diving it on Saturday, cannot wait. Any tips as to what i should look out for will be gratefully recieved (sensible ones only). Mostly i'm just in that initial curve of learning where you go from emphatic to healthy mistrust of rebreathers in general, something that is more likely to save my bacon than have me give up the sport. What has impressed me the most about the vision electronics is the temp stick, while there is not an actual direct correlation between the temperature reading and CO2 breakthrough, i am convinced that it is a huge improvement over not having one. My two cents is that you will need to get used to how the reading fluctuates with depth, it's similar to the difference with depth in predicted air time on an air integrated computer, in a similar way to how the air time decreases as you go deeper and increases as you go from deeper to shallower, you will notice the scurbber meeter on the hand set "adjust" with depth. I'm not sure if the reading is padded as you go deeper as an extra precaution or if the difference in temperature is directly correlated to depth. I do know that if you do subsequent dives on the same scrubber you need to take this fluctuation into account and realize that a scrubber can show you an unrealistically favorable reading at the beginning of the next dive but significantly reduce as you go deeper...you need to factor in total bottom time and max depth of previous dives with what you are seeing on the temp stick indicator initially at the beginning of next dive. As a rule, i chuck the scrubber after each dive if the dive is below recreational limits and do shallower max depths with each subsequent dive. I have gotten a scrubber warning toward the end of a dive and then in the shallows it's bounced back to half, and then when i've gone off loop it shot up to a three quarter reading, just realize it's heat that it's monitoring and that is it. it's actually not that complicated, just learn it's personality and stay within safe limits and i think you will find it is very handy.

In fact apart from seeing where my stops are, the scrubber monitor is the only thing I look at on the dive (I use a nice vytec in gauge mode for depth / time). Will be doing a 65M (195 foot) dive on Saturday in the English Channel. That sould test the scrubber temp stick!!! Okay, I do check the PPO2 a little! James. |

![]() | Re: Just Got My New Vision Dont scrimp on buying cheap batteries. I've found that Radio Shack brand batteries are inconsistant and a new set may not have enough juice to run the solenoid. BTW - I've found that a set of batteries lasts about 8-10 hours of on time - your results may vary but thats what I've been getting Go to a photography store and get Energizer or Sanyo or another name brand. |

BTW - I've found that a set of batteries lasts about 8-10 hours of on time - your results may vary but thats what I've been getting I steer clear from energizer for the most part, i think they invest more in advertising than they do in their batteries, disposible and rechargable. I too have found that radio shack brand is not dependable enough in general, but don't have specific feedback on the equivalent battery. I am a fan of Duracell when it comes to throw away batteries and Rayovac Ultra when it comes to rechargable (though i'm not in any way suggesting using rechargable batteries in anything that is as critical as the controllers). I got about 25 hours off my first battery before replacing it, didn't wait till it gave me a low battery reading. My wife's B1 was still showing a full charge after nearly 30 hours of bottom time, until the solenoid issue, but i'm guessing that was directly related to the solenoid not drawing a full current.Go to a photography store and get Energizer or Sanyo or another name brand.
