Loop Gas Temperature

Anyone any idea what the temperature of the loop gas is when it reaches the DSV? Humidity I'm assuming is at saturation (or thereabouts).

Re: Loop Gas Temperature

Depends a lot on the water temp and a bit on the rebreather and a bit on the CO2 in the loop/reaction of the scrubber

~60F for ~50F water

Not any significant conclusions, other than, the conclusion of the temperature of the gas your breathing

Re: Loop Gas Temperature

not really, the difference is so slight that water temp changes would most likely shroud it
heat from the scrubber means the scrubber is scrubbing if theres no heat then the scrubbers not scrubbing
the temp stick works as it shows where the heat is coming from the scubber

XXXXX>>>>> where X is heat and > is cool

^ that shows half of the scubber is used up

once the heat gets to the dsv theres no conclusion of where the heat came from so no, not much of a distinction of the state of the sorb

Re: Loop Gas Temperature

I find on the Meg that my loop temperature is roughly 2 degrees celsius above water temp on average.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

Question Re: Loop Gas Temperature

Apologies for hijack, but I find that very deep, the loop gets very warm. So much so that I've been wary in case it was a break through (it wasn't).

I put it down to high gas flow and volume. Anyone else get the same? Anyone know what it is? (My buddy had the same on the last dive, blue water, warm (23 degrees))

I've noticed a difference even between shallow dives in the 60-80 fsw range vs the 120-140 fsw. In the 120+ fsw range , the gas becomes analagous to a warm mist. I've assumed it's due to the increased density of the gas and the increase in scrubber activity...it feels much warmer than the water.

Don't know - and really don't care

It's a lot warmer than OC, - that's all that matters to me
