I've assumed it's due to the increased density of the gas and the increase in scrubber activity...it feels much warmer than the water. Your still producing the same amount of CO2 it's just there are more molecules for the little buggers to hide in ![]() What I am saying is the scrubber doesn't work 'harder' in the sense of there are more chemical reactions going on as it is deeper as it is still scrubbing the same amount of CO2 out of the loop - its just that the reactions are spread across a deeper bed.... Personally I don't notice any difference in loop temp other than when diving in very warm water - where when on hour long shallow deco stops the gas some times gets unbearably warm - you will often find me contorting myself removing (or trying to!) my wet suit and flushing it to try and cool me down.

That sounds familiar, although I am experiencing this at the deeper end, 100m+ but only in warm water. It's like when you rebreathe into a paper bag a couple of times, without the CO2-induced requirement to breathe more. "Warm mist" is very close.Using the BOV makes it nice and cool, and I've used this when working hard at depth so I know CO2 isn't an issue. WOB sucks. Just a thought, but air is a good insulator because the molecules are so far apart (caveat: dredging this from old chemistry lessons a million years ago). At 11+ ATM, they will be closer packed - I wonder if the ability to carry heat changes? Any physicists on here? I have trouble with a toaster...
