![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | what you traded for your Rebreather "If you want to dive like nobody else you have to drive like nobody else" at some point we all have to make a choice as to what are wants and needs are , in truth all you really need is food , housing and companionship to survive as a human. The want thing is more complex and can open a un-ending spew of rationalizations. Here is my rational and advice for those who have the need, um err Want for a rebreather. I just sold my loaded Nissan 4x4 crew cab truck . The trade was simple and beyond the cash for the truck I also received a 83 Toyota Corolla, No AC, NO radio, no power steering , as I write this post my right forearm burns with anguish over the trade or the newly used muscle fibers. I have enough cash now to buy any rebreather on the market with no debt . I still have a car that takes me from point A to point B and I smile while driving it as I know that its for a reason. I also now save about 575.00 dollars a month in Gas and insurance. ![]() Just wondering what others have traded or sold to get another rebreather. I have a few friends that laugh at my new ride and think its nuts then others are going Hmmmmm?

I once traded a rolex watch for motorcycle parts...does that count? When I was crash saving for my meg, I sold off my first CCR dolphin, parted out, an explorer dive computer, my two sets of double 112's, a $2,000 bitchn scoped weatherby rifle in .30-.378, and ate top ramen noodles and grilled cheeze sandwiches for a month...and still came up short I once said "I can afford anything I want, just not EVERYthing I want" and it still hold true today. I sacrifice having a nice ride (traded my fully loaded 1 ton Cummins powered Dodge dually 4wd, for a minivan), a nice house ( I live on a 33 foot, 25 year old boat), but now my monthly expenses are quite low, just so I can go on more dive trips per year. Having the guts to pursue your happiness at a cost is very difficult sometimes for some people due to their circumstances. I am glad you are in a position that allows you to pursue your happiness... Fortunately, I have always been lucky to trade off my old rebreather units for new ones when I am ready. IIRC:

So instead of buying a new or recent used car, I bought one at exactly the same amount of money the insurance gave me. With the money I was willing to put in the car, I bought my rEvo (even cheaper than the Submatix I was looking at ).And I don't regret it. ![]()
