A small note: once in the public domain, a work cannot be removed from it.

I would have respected Ross's wishes, too, but this point is important.
In fact, I would have been surprised if Ross ever put Z-Planner in the public domain to begin with.

Z-Plan, however, was in the public domain (as I recall from looking at it several years ago) ...

I thought that he did before started the V-planner program.

Anyway, it is his program and it is nice to comply.

Hey Phi, question for you:

Will allowed the user to speficy a Scamahorn slide ..
as a deco software author, do you think this is valuable/useful?

PS> If Stuart or Ross is reading, maybe they have an opininon?

Personally, it is not useful for my own diving.

IMHO, back when Leon introduced it, it was aimed to reduce the overall deco obligation since most everyone were using straight Buhlmann algorithm.

Nowadays, there are so many different algorithms that you could follow that get you out of the water faster - if that's what you want.

Same as doing air diluent switch on ascent to reduce deco. Helium is the new modern day factor versus old days of using deep air.

Plus, depending on the depth of the dive, the slide won't save you that much deco time unless a deeper depth. And personally, I actually use a lower set-point as depth increases. Yet I finish the deco sooner then slide + straight Buhlmann (as originally intended).

Again, same as always, a disclaimer... Opinions regarding deco should be treated theoretical discussion only. Everyone should do their own research, get their own training and think for themselves.

Thanks for the answer and history.
I was under the impression it was an "historical" approach
