Not a bad idea. Also look into prices to fly into West Palm Beach(PBI)...about 45 min drive north of Ft Lauderdale(FLL)...as it may be significantly cheaper to fly in there and rent a car there. Try to do some diving in that area as well. If you're a cave diver, consider flying into Orlando(MCO) and spending a couple days up in cave country as well. If you end up doing that, I may be able to hook you up with a keg of Sodasorb 6-12(works great in a Meg, it's all I use anymore) and do a few cave dives with ya. ![]() What time frame are you planning on coming down? It would be cool to put a small trip together with a bunch of Rebreather divers if we can swing it. Mike |

I am thinking about coming down in a month or so. My schedule is flexible. There will probably be 2 of us on ccr. We are more into wreck diving (being from Boston). I'll keep you informed. What time frame are you planning on coming down? It would be cool to put a small trip together with a bunch of Rebreather divers if we can swing it. Mike Dave |

![]() | Re: O2 & 8-12 in Florida (Keys & Pensacola) Same problem here too - I was in the upper Keys about 3 weeks ago and no-one would refill my Inspo O2 tank. One dive shop asked if I had a special certification to deal with O2 - quite serious. Another asked if I had a perscription. I had to run back up to Fill Express for an O2 fill. If I were you I stop by there and rent enough inspo tanks for the trip. It make you think about the Meg - you could strap a Alum 30 on the side a be good for the weekend. Soapbox: Man - C'Mon Florida Keys dive shops - get with the changing times!!! There are more rebreather divers on the way - learn to accept this - learn to deal with longer run times - learn what the diving trends are. This is the year 2000. You can keep ferrying OC Certs out the reef forever. There's more - one dive shop called Disk Rutkowski who runs the hyperbaric chamber down there and is pretty much who's who of diving first aid - and he wouldn't fill my measly 13cuft tank. He asked whom I knew - as if he'd only do it for his friends. Tech diving with any of the keys dive shops is a joke - none of them are prepared or ready to deal with any sort of tech arrangement. Please somebody challenge that statement. Last edited by Terry : 5th June 2006 at 18:06. |

We already have a charter set up for the 4th of July, and I will be on it again on the 8th of July. Unfortunately, Brian and I have a bunch of stuff planned for the weekend before the 4th as well, and given charter prices these days I just don't think we can fit another $300 in charter fees into the budget. I'ld be happy to point you toward some charter ops, though.Heather
