And link it up to Rebreather World, diveoz, decostop, scubastop, hell even duikforum.nl Ian, sorry mate, I won't call you mate if it offends you. It'll be Ian from now on. And I do understand that the subject is very touchy for you and like anyone else i do keep an eye out, and not only for your gear, but for stolen gear in general. Just didn't think it was nice to jump on Simon like that, but no malice was intended towards you. By no one! Denz.

Best Regards Mboto Gnubwebwe Oomchakalaka ![]() Iani, I do feel your pain (I had a car stolen once upon a time, not quite the same thing, but theft sucks). The anonymous-return idea would be good. I need some help seeing how to implement it, though. Let's consider providing a risk-free way (for the criminal) to return unsellable stolen property instead of, say, tossing it in a dumpster. How exactly would this work? How would you reach your target demographic? Why would a criminal trust you? If they trusted you, why would they help you? (this is the most difficult part for me, I'm guessing they don't care a whole lot about you one way or the other since they, uh, stole your stuff). The best I can think of are warning stickers, like the "operation id" kind of thing ("Don't steal me! My serial# is on file w/the dealers so you can't sell me. And I'm dangerous, I might kill you if you try diving with me, so just put me back, ok?).") Maybe bogus 'alarm' stickers? "Protected by the SubJack anti-theft tracking network(R)." I'm all ears for a practical implementation. Any good ideas here? Has this been successful in other communities? John G. |

What if there were a internet site called www.stolen-rebreather-rewards.com that a person could put on the rebreather next to a warning of death from usage. The stupid criminal could look at the site and find a way for them to safely (not get killed or tossed in the klink) return the breather. Get a bit more money than just dumping a unit into the dust bin. KLJ Last edited by caverkevin : 29th May 2006 at 04:36. Reason: spelling |

Get a bit more money than just dumping a unit into the dust bin. I would be concerned that this could alert them to an easy way to make money, so they start to target rebreathers for theft.KLJ |
