Diving in Connecticut

Hi Guys,

There's a possibility that I may be relocating to Connecticut for 2 years, probably based in Milford around the Trumbull area.

What can I expect in terms of diving, are there and Rebreather friendly centres and boats around in the area. Finally, what's the diving like, any rusting metal around?

Your answers here, could help me make the decision to accept the job or not

Cheers

Rich

Not sure how far you are into connecticut http://www.atlantis.nu/

But Long Island, NY has some of the best wreck diving in the world. Here is a LI Dive shop and boat, + a New England dive boat. Go to google maps and see how far you are from your new home. You can always pm me too and I would be happy to help some more if needed.

Yep, Long Island area is terrific for wreck diving, on the Atlantic Ocean side.

Long Island sound is devoid of large wrecks, and the vis stinks.

Re: Diving in Connecticut

Hi Rich
there is one boat ran by Orbit Marine Orbit Marine Sports Center: Scuba Diving Classes, Trips, Lessons, Equipment ... in Bridgeport (10 min from Milford) that has taken me with no concerns about my Sk but they have no Haskel so that has posed a problem for me in the past there are no to mant Rebreather guys around Ct.
As mentioned the vis is not great and the wrecks are lackluster
but the good news is that the Port Jefferson ferry Welcome to The Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company Website goes to long island every couple of hours and then you can get to the boats mentioned before.
Pm me if you need any other info, and if you come over well have a drink .
Thanks
Kevin

For Gas You Can Go To New England Dive. What Kind Of Diving Are You Looking For And What Kind Of Depths. I Am In Norwalk And Wind Up Going Up To The Thousand Islands, 6 Hours. I Like The Deep Wrecks. Also There Are Some Boats Up In Glouchester, Mass, About 3 Hours Away.
