![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Scruber Saver I recently became Evolved and during my first few dives I noticed how much condensation can build up on the head of the unit (especially when chasing crab!). No problem but I wanted to dry it completely in between dives. In doing this I discovered an inconvenience WRT where do I put the basket to keep it protected as well as sealed and dry. I will often have the opportunity to reuse the sorb from previous dives but wanted to ensure that it was not exposed to potential contamination. A friend of mine suggested to put it in some kind of tube to seal it and keep it protected. After tracking down the correct size PVC I came up with this device. I think it will do the job but would like some feed back. I will apologies now if I have stolen someone's idea. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Scruber Saver Good job Rob, What part # "plumbing" did you use and who supplied that stuff? Should be on commercial side. I used plastic bags so far, but was looking to make something like this for this summer season diving. Are you in diving industry in Victoria? Dove three times at Ogden Point, very good, save weekend diving. Will be moving to VI fairly soon (mid Island), and will be nice to meet you one day in Victoria - " a little island's Paradise". Cheers, Nick |

As for the part # I don't have them. I went to a commercial plumbing shop and asked for 6" ID PVC pipe with 2 end caps. The piece in the middle is a 6" PVC pipe union. I had to play with the lengths a bit before I came up with the perfect length and I will post them soon. What part # "plumbing" did you use and who supplied that stuff? Should be on commercial side. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Scruber Saver OK I have the dementions............ 1 X 6" PVC Pipe on the top 4.5" 1 X 6" PVC Pipe on the bottom 7.25" 1 X 6" Union/coupler 6.125 2 X 6" End caps which I cut in half 1.5" Total length 12.25" I hope this helps, you have to be careful not to have any sharp edges that could damage the scrubber top. I am planning on putting in a gasket to help seal it as well as protect the scriber basket. |

Thank you Rob. I was on Inspo Classic course in Comox Valley with Bill Coltart of Pacific Pro Dive in May 2005. Fascinating diving with very good visibility.Despite few glitches in first couple of dives, I was really impressed with what I saw. Take a small octopus on you hands, and poor creature was not running away, was something I normally would not expect. And last course's dive on Capelano wreck at 126 feet with vis 30-40 m was very something special. Was so impressed that at the end of the week, after my course was over and my wife flew over to join me for long weekend, we managed to buy a property north of Nanaimo. Diving around Vancouver Island is incredible and gives all type of opportunities from shore diving to deep wrecks, fantastic walls eta, do not mention the Island itself. You know more about that. I will be more then happy to get more introduction to VI diving. Unfortunately, it might take me quite few month before we finally move there. I"ll send you PM and, if you want, drop me you contact info. Best regards, Nick PS My course started on Friday, May 13 Woooo..... Last edited by NickK : 9th May 2006 at 04:24. |
