disposable gas sensors

Has anyone worked with some of the new gas sensors, currently being developed by a number of start-ups? They promise to be cheap, accurate, energy efficient and small. What i have in mind is a small pack of O2, CO2 and He sensors in a cheap and easy to handle package, to be changed after every dive (like the scrubber for instance). That should not be more than a dollar or so per pack.

So far, I don't believe that any of these start-ups are looking into the Rebreather market - its too small to be of interest. Nevertheless, there are companies out there, which offer devices for CO2 monitoring for 0-6% CO2, accuracy 1%, warm-up time 500ms. Sounds like a good start ... Same company is working on O2 and He sensors as well. By combining the O2, CO2 and He sensor, you would have a handy package for the user.

Am I wasting my time dreaming, or, do you agree that this might be the future???

Anyone?

One that I had a look at was Nanomix: www.nano.com. They develop sensors on carbon tube basis, as well as analysers etc that use them.
