Big deco divers: Do you ever do any NDL diving?

Hello all. I'm interested to know more about the habits of those of you who use your CCRs mostly for deep and/or long deco dives:

1) Do you ever find yourself doing any NDL diving, or at least smaller deco dives of say, less than 15 minutes deco? And if so, how much of each type of diving do you do?

2) For those of you who do smaller dives on a regular basis, do you have another CCR just for this type of diving, or have you managed to do both knds of diving with 1 unit?

3) Are you now bored by easier dives?

I have recently done my tmix training and I'm trying to figure out how this may change my diving habits, equipment choices, etc...
I'm guessing that I will spend about 30% of my diving doing planned, bigger deco dives to vist wrecks and deeper natural attractions and the the other 70% pushing the NDLs, with minimal deco. But I'd like to know how others have progressed along this route. Any input will be appreciated. Thanks, -Andy

I tend to do 1 long dive a day.. I hate getting geared up more than once when its not necessary..

im the same - i hate gearing up more than once/twice a day

on last weeks red sea trip many people were doing 3 or 4 short dives a day...that would kill me. where possible i was doing what i usually do and preffer, two 2hr+ ones or one 3hr+ dive/day with a big surface interval

great if i can do that within a ndl - but thats rarely the case.

I may not qualify as a 'Big Deco diver' here.
I'm about one third deco longer than bottom time, one third some stops, one third no stops at all.

All diving is fun. I suspect I just like being in the water.
It's all done on the same Inspiration, now with the Vision upgrade, and normally on the same 18/40 mix as I won't put a hypoxic mix on unless I really need it. I don't think I dive often enough to keep two sets of skills up so I prefer not to dive OC except surface supply for coms. My only exception is when I dive the IDA64 but then the whole point of the dive is to dive the IDA and that's got to be shallow as it's my toy pure oxygen rebreather.

i take my time and slow everything down. its a very different mindset to the normal rush-rush-rush of the short dives roll over from OC limitations.

Re: Big deco divers: Do you ever do any NDL diving?

50% of my diving is big deco 30mins to 2 1/2 hours of stops. 50% is fun stuff but there is usually some deco as pretty much all the diving is 30m+ Generally only do no stop diving if its the second dive drift or if its on holiday single tank stuff.

It is such an effort to get out down and finally into the water that once there i tend to stay as ling as the tide the cold and the skipper will allow.

Last year a couple of skippers suggested limiting dives to 120min run times. It went down like a lead balloon with the CCR boys.

I agree with Mr Radomski here, gearing up more than once a day is a pain in the arse.

I do not do any NDL diving at all and haven't for about 5 years now.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

You can get lovely long dives if you do a deep dive on a .7 set point also eh mate?
