![]() | Hi everyone, I'm just looking for ideas on hooking up a HT50 ventilator to a rebreather. Always looking for more ideas. One of my friends had an idea of hooking up my vent to his inspiration rebreather. Others think I should use an oxygen rebreather, so it's less hi-tech. something like the one on this link. http://www.aliensofthesea.com/Castoro/C96.htm The HT50 ventilator can handle 33 feet and it weighs 12# (8"h x 8"d x 12"L). The internal battery last for nine and half hours and totally sealed. We will have a back up battery to. We will need to make a water tight housing for the vent. In the water tight housing we would put controls like a camera housing has to be able to change setting if needed on the vent. If anyone want's to know more about the vent just ask me and I will e-mail the manual. We're only planning to go 20 to 30ft, at the most. Might go deeper someday. We could use an Evolution, but probably do not need something that hi-tech. I want to start working on getting my Nitrox certification. Also, eventually my rebreather certification. Take care and safe diving everyone. Matt ![]()

Matt requires a ventilator to breath and is looking for ways for him to venture into the underwater world. I believe he has already made a pool dive or two. He has been profiled in a number of articles and tv news stories. Check out this website for more details: http://www.divingadream.org/ |

In that case I'd look at a rebreather with a single counterlung, and use a simple "bag-squeezer" type of ventilator to replace the counterlung.Check out this website for more details: http://www.divingadream.org/

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Looking for ideas on rebreathers matt the it sounds like what you are looking for is a powered rebreather rather then hooking your vent to a rebreather. any of ther units that have a bottom mounted counter lung in the scrubber canister would be an easy conversion. mounting a pneumatic cylinder to drive a piston in place of the counter lung would be the easy way to do this. Of course there would have to be a manual level arangement to power it, if it failed. using a surface supplied air source for the pneumaics to give you a decent duration. i would suggest a scr for this aplication due to the fact you are going to be venting a lot of gas anyway and it is simple to build. My only real concern is a loop flood because you will not have an oc bailout option, this could be over come with a second loop to a double ended cylinder with an adv on one side and a opv on the other, run with a manual lever. rick |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Looking for ideas on rebreathers matt i drew up an idea for the bailout rig, it would also alow you to use straight oc. it is basically an air powered vent that you could dive with my only concern is the size of the adapter needed to interface with your breathing tube. it will cut your duration in half but with a set of hp doubles you should have lots of time. if you ever need a buddy on the west coast. rick |
