Have you ever been to Ginnie Springs on Memorial Day Weekend? It is incredibly insane! It wouldn't surprise me if you won't be able to find a parking spot within 1,000 yards of the water. You will have to elbow your way through drunks with inner tubes. Eric the cave cop (the new employee who patrols Devil's Eye and Ear with a whistle, and who isn't afraid to use it) will be able to help I'm sure, but won't be able to stop the masses. At Ginnie, the kids take on a mob mentality on those holiday weekends. Cheers

How about Orange Grove/PeacockI and Peacock III/Troy. You could split it up using all 3 places or do it all at OG and Peacock. Issues with these places is that you'll have to be out of the water by 5 p.m. You need to be out of the park by 7 p.m. Also, the instructors are supposed to have a commercial, state park pass (if they don't have one already, they run about $160). Options? I would head for the Luraville/Branford area instead of dealing with the crowd at Ginnie....Just get up earlier to make sure you get everything done by 5 p.m. That way you'll have enough time to break down the units, get 'em cleaned up and still have time for a few beers!

![]() | Re: ADM / NSSCDS Rebreather Review and Experience Course My girlfriend and I signed up for this rebreather experience as late as last Wednesday evening because of possible work schedule issues on my side of life. We signed up at the ADM site and called Ginnie Springs and everything was good and set. We spent ALL day Saturday driving in from Lousiana. Saturday afternoon we called Ginnie Springs and re-confirmed that the review would be held there, to which the young lady on the other end replied that she knew of the review, but was unsure of a meeting area, but suggested that their upstairs classroom would be the most likely meeting place. Sunday morning we arrived at Ginnie Springs and we were met with cluelessness and shoulder shrugging. To add insult to injury, one the young ladies at the front desk asked a supervisor what the deal was, and the reply was, that this event had taken place 3 weeks earlier. Now I know how dive plans change because of weather and other variables, but I know that ISC, APD/SDS, Jetsam Technologies and Dive Rite did not ALL back out of this at the last minute. In fact, Jetsam Tech still has the advertisement on their front web page stating they would be there on May 28, 2006 As said by cave and tech divers (which I am not qualified yet, but I have read enough material to be familiar with it), there is an (un)spoken rule that any diver can bow out of the dive if one is not up to the dive and a diver can call the dive while in the water for any reason, or no reason at all, without ridicule or harrassment or loss of respect. The two things the diver has to have is #1) balls and #2) personal integrity in order to stand and say "hey guys, I do not want to be apart of this one..." I checked, double checked, and triple checked my info and it all matched up. I had no reason to believe otherwise. Based on this information, I made a choice to fore-go a family outting, a veterans ceremony, and passed up my regular dive site by 3.5 hrs to do this. When I got to the other side of the country, I don't think it would have been too much to expect a decent answer of some sort as to what the real situation was. The question I have now is, what really happened? If this event was cancelled earlier than last week, why were the advertisements not pulled, or at least, blocked from signing divers up for something that wasn't going to happen and notify them of the current situation? I hope I don't come off as too much of an asshole, but I hope my aggrevation can be understood on this matter. It would be nice to hear some answers from ADM, Ginnie Springs and these companies that were suppose to be there this weekend, as there names were all attached to this situation. I've chaulked this one up already. Maybe next time, ALL of us can get it right and listen to the silence... Semper Fi Dave

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: ADM / NSSCDS Rebreather Review and Experience Course Read the first announcement on this thread It says the Rebreather Review course would be held at the NSS-CDS conference in Live Oak, FL on Sunday, May 28th. Whom ever you spoke with at Ginnie, didn’t know anything about the event because only the in water section was to be held there in the afternoon. Due to the extremely poor attendance at the CDS conference I elected to cancel the course at the last minute on Saturday. I had Linda at ADM's office quickly e-mail all 6 pre-registered people about the course being cancelled and that we would not charge their credit cards, but still give them the years free subscription to ADM just because it would be the right thing to do. I did not wish to cancel the course due to the fact that the rebreather manufacturers and I had at least $2500.00 in expenses in airlines, hotels, and transportation costs just to hold the course. Not to mention the 4 days of travel and time wasted for the main speakers, Kim Smith (who came in from Canada) and Alan Studly (who flew in from California). Sorry about the inconvenience the cancellation may have caused. We here at ADM will try harder next time. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: ADM / NSSCDS Rebreather Review and Experience Course Dave , very unfortunate that it did not work out for you. Hope you had a great week-end anyway I toasted you over the table myself. I have had similar events that that did not pan out or where canceled last minute after I purchased Air fare, Its a bitch ! One the other hand I know its a sizable investment for the sponsors to pull this kind of event off and travel with all the toys. I look forward to putting a similar event on in the future in the Midwest and have found that its a logistical nightmare for all involved. The number of participants has to be significant to make it even come close to breaking even. The rebreather community is at a steady rise ,Thanks to this type of events Curt (ADM)and those involved have made significant attempts in getting the opportunities out there for us all.
