Hammerhead HUD Shade?

When I am inside dark wrecks, I love using my HUD. However, in open water during the daytime, I can't see the light.

I see other CCR divers with a cover around the HUD light, and they seem to say that they can see their HUD well even in the daylight. I have a video camera housing from Light and Motion that has an LCD screen that uses a similar covering system, and it works well.

So, I was wondering how well these work for those that have them, and I was wondering if anyone has a source for ones that would fit/work for a Hammerhead unit.

Thanks for any suggestions.

That's because you're spoiled by clear warm water under sunny skies.
Pay the price for it, buster!

Just kidding, lucky git.
I remember seeing a picture with a piece of plastic tupe that slides up.
Can't remember where, but it's out there.

Re: Hammerhead HUD Shade?

Here are a two things that I have used at different times and all work very well...

1) A piece of black hose protector...

2) A piece of black electrical shrink insulation...

The goal is to actually make a "hood"...

Dive Safe...

Re: Hammerhead HUD Shade?

Not very creative but I use a black permanent ink pen to cover the back side of the HUD,
Works for me!
