High enough to recognize private property rights - a founding principle of the United States which seems to have been entirely forgotten by a whole bunch of folks.just how high is that horse Karl? BTW, I'm a non-smoker and strongly dislike the smell of cigarette smoke; it burns my eyes quite severely, and I also recognize that it might cause me serious harm if inhaled in large enough quantity. That, however, doesn't give me the right to tell a private landowner whether or not he can produce that smoke on his own property - any more than it gives someone else the right to tell you that you can't dive that "box of death" because you might kill yourself if you do.

Whenever I hear some tech diving type rant on about the dangers of smoking/refined sugar/acrylamide/scare-of-the-month I have to laugh. Compared the dangers of diving, expecially tech diving, it's all background noise. Pick your poison. ![]() Average years of life lost for male smokers is 14.7. Technical diving is nothing like this dangerous. Dave T |

![]() ![]() | Re: Smokers Uncle Sam doesn't want smokers to stop anymore than it wants drinkers to sober up. Where else can they generate the tax revenue that they do from drinking and smoking. Here in the New York area you pay over $4.50 state tax per pack plus a little more to the feds. Stop the nonsense and just ban them. |

I also dont want to smell your nasty exaust, so find somewhere downwind please. If you feel its your "right" to blow the byproduct of your habit on me, I may just feel its my right to stream the byproduct of my milk drinking habit on your head, its only fair. Having a no smoking section in a restaraunt is like having a no peeing area in the swimming pool, how does the smoke/piss know? Being a guy who sells electronics to local and federal narcotics agencys, legalising drugs would cut into my bottom line, so Im against that for sure! (that was a joke, BTW, however I do take their money when they write the checks) People will always do stupid stuff that is not good for them, it thins the herd and proves darwin was right. Personally I have seen my grandma, and grandpa die of smoking related illness, my father is in a wheel chair pushing the oxygen bottle around at 68. So hey, knock yourself out, its a free country (most places anyway). Oh, yeah, I dont smoke, never have even tried it, drugs either, I like my brain cells, might need them someday. dont drink either, but I love kinky sex! ![]() OK back to diving!!
