![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | How fit are you? As we all know that tech diving and diving in general requires good helth and good physical fit, I thought it would be nice to know how much people train to stay fit. Edit: The 4th option should be " Train 120-180 mins a week" JH Last edited by jhaaja : 7th April 2006 at 11:22. |

I've always had a fairly active life, I go to the gym every day during the week, I'm a member of a couple of martial arts clubs, I trained as a trapeze artist before I needed a sensible job, I do a bit of climbing and train mid-week on an indoor wall and I try to swim 2-3 times a week as well. I don't really think about training specifically for diving I just have a natural aversion to being lardy but a liking of good food and wine as well. The average waist size for males under 40 in the UK is 37" and that to me is a horrendous situation that I don't want to end up in.

Well the England Rugby Club front line would be above average, doesn't mean that they arn't fit though does it.Lucky for me that I don't fit into that catagory, over 40s must be allowed some slack. I don't train, I'm not fit, I walk my dogs and go diving. Outside of the bedroom that's the only excersize that I get. I did over 250 dives last year though. |

Yeah true but I still think it's fair to say that most Brit males with a 37" waist aren't super-fit brick shithouses and is more likely to have acquired it through Stella and Sky Sports. Abdominal fat is just about the worst place that you can get it. There is no getting away with the fact that the UK does have a high level of obesity.

You missed out curries and fish 'n chips. The curry goes equally well with a nice pint of 'wife beater'.B

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: How fit are you? I play competitive badminton three days a week for a minimum of two hours so assuming i play 4 matches of 15mins each i suppose I qualify for 180mins of training / exercise a week. I had a full on heart check up last year including a cardio monitor which I wore for 24 hours and during badminton. After this and a 20min treadmill test I was told that I was disgustingly fit for a 42 year old fat git (1.8m 95kg) who smokes and drinks wayyyyy to much. I am planning some serious 120m+ diving for next year and loosing weight and getting fitter is going to be part of my prep At the moment I still plan to quit deep diving (50m+) and long deco (60min+) at age 45. At that time I might quit CCR as well and go back to OC but I haven't made my mind up yet. I struggle to justify the risk of CCR diving unless doing deep long dives. ATB Mark Chase

![]() | Re: How fit are you? I'll do 120 min daily weights and cardio mixed depending on my workout schedule. It feels pretty good to wear size 29 pants when you are 33. In highschool and college I was only a size 28..... not to bad eh?? |
