Ouroboros Stolen

Ian, I hope they get what they deserve, death, revival and another slow death. They must have known what they were doing as they would have needed a truck for that lot and your average fence would think it was something that he used smoked his herb with! Not a very expensive piece of dive kit.

Good luck and eyes peeled in all the regular places.

If it shows on ebay we can offer a sizable amount for pick up only, then arrange for a few members to go along for a complete whoop ass , We get the whole thing taped for pod cast and show it at the Rebreather World awards party.

Now thats quality entertainment.

Had a thought about this in the past, and I think there is also a risk that the scumbag doesn't know what it is.

ie they just showed up and emptied the house of anything that looked valuable, and got the rebreather in the haul.
So now they are sitting around looking at the rebreather, wondering what do do with it. The local pawn shops are not going to have a bar of it, so they can either try and sell on ebay etc. Or dump it.

So imagine the scenario - they have worked out that it's diving gear, and decide to do a bit of research to see what it's worth. Go online, and see splashed across all the websites everywhere the fact that it is rare, and readily traceable, and that there are a whole bunch of guys looking to help with the investigation and approapriate beatings. In that case, I assume all but the dumbest tea leaf would be dumping it asap.

Perhaps it's worth appending a 'no questions asked' reward for it's return to the descriptions posted everywhere - let it known that you'll give a few hundred quid to get it back, and won't ask where it's been?

Terrible news...and like many others it makes me think. I reckon it has the makings of an interesting local news story...local radio / TV etc. The rationale being that the thieves may have bitten off more than they can chew with state of art diving equipment that could kill in the wrong hands (hacks can't resist that kind of stuff!). Go heavy on the helium / trimix angle...

Combine that publicity with the offer of the no questions nominal reward for safe return and you might just get lucky.

Similar thing happend years ago with a YBOD in Aberdeen...was stolen out of a car. Eventually the bozo walked into the local dive shop to try to sell it!

hi sorry to hear of your loss jut goes to show its worth putting your equiptment on your insurance policy so if the worst case should happen, my house has been burgled numerous times its a horrible feeling but at least they have left my dive stuff alone cant possibley be a diver whos swiped it as anyone in teh dive world would know they are rare and would struggle shifting it, i reckon there is everychance of them making mistake
