Loop flow

Just had a curious thought...........pre-sport rebreathers all had a counter-clockwise gas flow. Why the change to clockwise flow? Is there a definite advantage to either way?

I wouldn't have thought so...... the azzimuth has it counter clockwise.

The inspiration is designed with a clockwise flow to keep the "rich is right" principle, all dil stuff (low o2) on the left and into the inhale lung, and all rich stuff (high o2) into the exhale lung on the right. I designed it like that to follow on from my OC trimix/nitrox practises. but a few Rebreather's dont follow that, for instance the meg is counter clockwise and injects (manual) o2 into the inhale lung

The Ray DSV I had on my homebuild was anti-clockwise. KISS is clockwise.

kiss and sport kiss is clockwise as is the Boris (I think) cis -lunar was

Prism is counter clockwise with the tanks to match.

So there is a mix..........Thought that their was more than just the Insp. Dave T gave his explaination why the Insp loop is CW.......any one have reasons from a performance stand point? I for one can't think of a reason that performance would be effected, but you never know

I think the optima is clockwise........ but i wouldn't swear to it.

Yes, it is. I can't say the reasons behind the design. However, it is clockwise (coming in from over the left shoulder).
