Virkon disinfectant prices

I have been tracking down prices for UK suppliers of Virkon tablets - the prices vary enormously. However, I have managed to find a supplier who sells Virkon (not Virkon S) 5gram tablets in tubs of 50 for £8.50 per tub - less than half price of other suppliers I have found.

The only drawback is that postage and packing is £10 - whether it is for 1 tub or 100. I have emailed to have all prices/conditions verified, but wonder whether any UK users here would be interested in purchasing some tubs? That way, the postage and packing is almost lost in a larger order.

I can order them and then post individually to UK RBWorld members. Second class post for 1 tub is 83p (300g weight plus confirmation of posting), so you'll be looking at £9.33 total for 50x5g tablets - last ages apparently.

Anybody interested, please pm me. i will post an update when i receive confirmation from supplier.

Re: Virkon disinfectant prices

Hi All

Just for info ......

Just to let you know, I checked Virkon out a while ago and spoke to the manufactures of it..

They told me that Virkon and Virkon S are the same product, they just have to be marketed differently as the law states that they cannot be sold under the same name... but they are identical ! !

Good price rewrites , but Virkon S is cheaper..

I got a 5 Kilo tub of Virkon S for £40.00 from a local animal feed supplier..

Cheers

Julie

Re: Virkon disinfectant prices

Try SPH Supplies www.sphsupplies.co.uk

50 Tab pack of Virkon is £11.99 plus £2.50 p&p

I've found it quite easy to get hold of, most of the equestrian shops round me sell it in various packs (£1.50 for a 5l sachet in Robinsons at Haydock when I was last in), agricultural suppliers usually stock it too. I'm told by a farmer the cheaper "pet" branded version is the same as the DEFRA approved stuff but with different legal blurb.

Cheers,

Stuart

Virkon disinfectant prices - update!!

Hi everyone

Having looked at the info in Julie's thread [manufacturer states that Virkon and Virkon S are the same product], then there seems little point paying for Virkon - especially when Virkon S is available for £40 per 5KG!!

There is a huge difference between prices even for Virkon S, so shopping aorund is a must, but it would seem a trip to the local vet/pet supplies shop is the best bet after all.

Sorry for the 'runaround' on this.

Have fun!

Peter
