The Rebreather World Rebreather Awards

Dear All,

I have had a few conversations with various folks around this, now I would like to run it past you and get your feedback on it before investing time and money in getting it going.

The proposal is to have an annual Rebreather Awards ceremony held at DEMA.

The prizes would be awarded at the Rebreather party arranged by the one and only Tom Rose.

We would have various catagories and a pseudo gold statue award

for the winners.

Categories would include various sections which we would all discuss but some ideas to start the chat off could be...

1 - Most innovative new product
2 - Best customer support
3 - Rebreather friendliest destination
4 - Rebreather life time award for services to rebreatherhood

Various best new xxxx

I have some ideas of how it woudl all work / voting etc but lets see what you all think...

Well enough of me rambling so what do you all think?

Sounds cool, although there are some of us who can't go to DEMA so it limits the pool of would be attendees.

Good point - I know it sounds cheesy but we could arrange a video / pod cast to make sure everyone would get to see it.

Obviously all the voting would take place before hand.

can we get drink tickets now?

sounds like a great time and Idea.

I would add awards of bests :

Instructor.. active and productive.

store owner/Dealer (rebreather promotion with in the industry)
perhaps the manufactures can support this by each brand.

A fine idea.

It would be a priviledge for anyone to be presented with an award from the nutski himself.
Dont forget our version of the wooden weight belt, I'm sure there is an old regulator we can spray gold and mount on a block of balsa.

I like the idea.

Although most innovative new product does require a new product every year ...

And if AP manages to keep even 1 in 10 costumers happy they'll get that award for a long time to come, even if every Jetsam, ISC, SMI and DR customer would be thrilled.

But I'm really looking forward to the lifetime achievement awards.

I am open to voting on it - I suggested DEMA as we know all the manufacturers of everything Rebreather related are there...

It would not be in the show so Dema off site would be great, possible to do a hotel with pool and have a few days for manufactures can give presentations and demos, This could do a lot for the rebreather industry as a whole.
The off site presentations have been very popular in the past years and offer show goers a break from the floor.
a one day event pre or post show with a party awards ceremony at the end of the day.

this would allow more people to attend and could increase the participation by Manufactures and dealers.
