Not sure exactly what you are trying to achieve, so I have a quick question...If you are trying to set a poll up to determine which Rebreather manufacturer provides the BEST service, then I don't think it would be fair unless EACH voter has experienced services from ALL of the manufacturers. And I don't think there are too many (if at all) divers have that experience level. Therefore, the poll result will most likely skew toward whichever the current unit they dive / teach or sell. Another way it might be affected is by the sheer user base. For example, APD has the largest user base out there for CCR units. If 50% of them had good experiences with the service, and they all vote, the result will overwhelm all the rest of the manufacturers COMBINED.

The concept is very interesting though and reminds me of something which Cedric was pushing some time ago for which was a survey of site users. I shall add it to my last of things to do to the site when I can... Stuart

People go on about how good customer service of companies like Halcyon is... I'd bet another poll of equipment problems would show a correlation...

If both have the same 20% rate of return or need of service, we are talking about 1200 versus 60 units. Also, customer satisfaction is such a personal and objective issue. We have people who are reasonable and expect just the "normal" level of service. And we have people who wants things for nothing. And it is usually the latter are more vocal, IMHO.

Are you voting for the best service company ? If so, have you experienced others ? ALL others ? Are you voting for the worst service ? Are you voting that the manufacturer has a service ? What are you voting for ?

But then there are just as many customers who think the cost of the equipment includes a seat at the manufacturer's family Christmas dinner. And it is usually the latter are more vocal, IMHO.

(a) Leon : Strengths - Has that "I'm Just Out Of Special Forces" macho/mustache thing going on. Weaknesses - Has that "I'm Just Out Of Special Forces" macho/mustache thing going on for far too long. (b) Martin : Strengths - Has that English Accent/Hugh Grant thing down pat. Weaknesses - He's a freaking Brit, for Chrissakes!! (c) Kevin G. : Strengths - Same as Martin, but with a Shaved Head - kinda gives him that edgy "might just decide to go postal" on you look. Weaknesses - He's a freaking Brit, for Chrissakes!!! (d) Peter R. : Strengths - Has a good looking wife. Weaknesses - Jesus, didn't you guys read (b) and (c)!!??? (e) Kevin J : Strengths - Handsome, Bold, Dashing Good Looks - Bon Vivant, clearly the Most Virile of the assembled group. Weaknesses - Won't pick up his socks (his wife made him write that after slapping his face and making him cry). How about it? Is that a fair poll or what?? ![]() Kevin. |
