![]() ![]() ![]() | Pick Two! Ok I need some input. Lets say you are buying 2 CCRs around the same time. Which 2? Really think about it. They will both be used in all types of dives, warm and clear and dark and cold. Recreational, tech and expedition. One will be used 50% at home and 50% for traveling. The other mostly at home with some traveling thrown in. Both must be trimix capable and rated to at least 100 meters. So do you go with: 1. Inspo and Evo. Basically same training and rig. Easy to switch back and forth. 2. Evo and Meg. Ok, have to do the cross-over training and get use to the differences. One is small and light the other modular and will perform well on expedition type dives. 3. Two of the same model. Makes training easy but all systems have strengths and weaknesses. Should I try to get the benefits offered by different designs. 4. Prism? Dive Rite? Boris? 5. Or, just stick with one and don't be a greedy bastard! I know many of you are diving 2 or 3 different units. All info is appreciated. moooo |

If we have the same view of what expedition diving is then nothing comes close to the Meg. Working from that I would suggest buying one Meg and seeing if it can do all you want it to in a way that floats your boat. If it does then there is your answer, if it doesn't then you should be in a great place to work out what does. I hope this helps.

| Silent diver ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Pick Two! Hi, I don't know very well the Prism, but among the rebreathers mostly used in the world my preference it goes to Megalodon and Ouroboros. For an underwater expedition that will develop in 2007, after various reasonings with the other members of the team we have decided to choose the Megalodon. This for it sturdiness, versatility, safety, and to the dimensions when get off. The respiraton is excellent, and its trim in very natural in water. The ouroboros, is an exceptional units, I am discovering it endless potentialities day by day. Complete electronics, facility of respiraton, everything behind. Stings weak for the use in our exepidiont that we will develop it on board of a boat, a certain fragility, the poor versatility (cylinders, first stadiums, accessories) and the dimensions of the units. Inspiration and Evolution or Vision, are of the unities of a great reliability, with thousand of sold unity, hundreds of thousand diveseffected. It is second me the easiest CCR to be taught to a person that arrive near to the world of the rebreathers. Great volumes, simplicity, reliabilities are some of its merits. But for the experienced scuba diver after some time it becomes narrow, the great volumes encumber the movements and the sees, scarce versatility limits the use of it in the trips. Those people who keep on usually using modify it to the such point to make it unrecognizable, I not share to 100% this choise O2ptima is too soon to give a judgment, but also them the choice almost forced of the cylinders and the use of Extended Air, it will limit the choice of it for those people who intend travel with his CCR. I hope to be you useful. Regards Aldo ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Pick Two! Dave get the Evo and the Meg. Don't get any MCCR's. If you want? you can, as you should practice running them manually if you need to or want to. With these 2 you will be able to dive them both and get a feel for which one you like the best. I take the Meg right on the plan in the bag with me and either rent cylinders or put them in the check bag. Later Paul Last edited by USSMEG : 7th March 2006 at 10:49. Reason: missing a , |

| Who loves ya, baby ![]() ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Pick Two! Just two? PRISM and Sport Kiss, probably. Yes, I know, you said both must be rated to 100 m, but you can only dive one at a time anyway. So I rather cover the bases by having one unit that does the 100 m and one that travels extremely well, is quick and easy to (dis-)assemble, offers an alternate CL postion, affordable and, and, and. ![]() Other contenders for a spot besides the PRISM would be the MK15.5 ($$$ and not so good for travel, pita to keep going), the Ouroboros ($$$ and not so good for travel either) or maybe the Shadow Pack III when it hits the market. Although a unit with rear mounted lungs would add some more variety.
