![]() | Travel frame Just bought a travel frame, and I'm looking at options for mounting the cylinders. Has anyone any suggestions other than cam bands?

![]() | Re: Travel frame I think you'll find that cam bands are the easiest, lightest way. I've never had a problem with them as yet with using 5 litre cylinders. Trying to put quick release style fittings such as the Northern Diver/Metalsub brackets will bring it's own problems & add weight to the frame, which would defeat the object of getting a lightweight frame for travelling!!! Just curious, why not use cam bands? or are you just looking for alternatives for to make a decision? Cheers Giles |

OK you need a screw driver to undo them but I a,ways have a little tool kit with me so thats not a problem. I have the dedicated set of 3ltr clips and one set which will do all other sizes. The weight is insignificant. ![]() ATB Mark Chase

| Mmmm Rubber!! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Travel frame Jan Willem Bech's website is a mine of information on this frame, he used Scubapro cinch bands as did i after seeing his, they are very good and are positive locking. They are little expensive and they have now been modified so maybe dificult to fit to 3L cylinders. As they are expensive check that they are adjustable before buying. ![]() | Re: Travel frame The reason I'm interested in using something else is no one seems to make a cam band suitable for 3 litre cylinders. I bought 2 from AP which are supposed to work, but they are too long, the velcro's in the wrong place, and the locking mechanism isn't particularly impressive. If I have to use them, they'll have to be modified, and I don't have an industrial sewing machine!

You can get 3 litre sized ones from AP - the pony ones

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Travel frame You can also glue the velcros to correct places after you have cut the band to correct length. The velcros are not necessary if you bend the lock on the band but they make sure that the lock won`t accidentally open. I have mine set up like that and I was actually able to put some weights on the band while diving at Red Sea. I did not need to use a weight belt. |

![]() | Re: Travel frame I have been using the AP on-board cylinder mounting system on my EVO box. Any reason why I shouldn't adapt this to fit the travel frame? It really doesn't weigh that much.
